Billy Porter
Billy Porter grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he started singing at the age of 4 in the Baptist Church. He attended Carnegie Mellon University where he received musical training and got a B.F.A. in drama. In 1992, Billy Porter received national attention when he was declared the male vocalist grand champion on Star Search.
Porter is an R&B singer laced with soul. His debut album, Untitled, came out in 1997 and featured 'Love Is On The Way' which reached #81 on the R&B charts. The single also appeared on 'The First Wives Club.' The album's second single 'Show Me' reached #44 on the R&B charts.
Billy Porter's second album came out in 2005 and was titled 'At The Corner of Broadway + Soul.' The album was recorded live and was done as a combination of original material and renditions of Broadway songs.
Today, Porter is starring in the play Ghetto Superstar: The Man That I Am. The play is appearing around New York City and has received rave reviews.
