New Video: Ashanti - 235 (2:35 I Want You)

Our coverage of Ashanti went from 0 to 60 real fast. If you go to our home page for the first time today, you would now see three different stories about Ashanti and think we were some crazy stans. Hats off to her for getting things done.

Our last story was about Ashanti putting out a new single, 235 (2:35 I Want You). Now, she's put out the music video for that track and whew, it's something to watch.

The video features shots based on the promotional image of Ashanti topless, covering her chest with some fun colored lights spotted on her. These shots are intermixed among a sequence that is about Ashanti seducing her man, showing him just how much she wants him. And dang does Ashanti look good.

We talked about the song in the previous post, but it sounds solid. Ashanti is showing here she doesn't need a rapper supporting on her track to help her put out a hit. Her delivery here feels reminiscent of Brandy to me, showing that Ashanti has been working on her vocal chomps during her time away from the game.

Overall, Ashanti has been coming back strong with her Verzuz battle with Keyshia Cole and now with this fire track. 2020 had been a great year for R&B revivals with great albums from Toni Braxton, Brandy, and Portrait. If Ashanti's new album does come out this year, it looks like 2021 could be even better.
