New Verzuz! Ashanti and Keyshia Cole January 21

Ashanti and Keyshia Cole are both dominating women in the R&B game. They had been teasing an upcoming Verzuz but have unfortunately had to push it back several times. First, the December date was postponed after Ashanti contracted COVID. Then, the early January date was delayed out of respect for the rising number of cases around the country. Not much has changed in that direction, but I guess the women were tired of changing the dates, so here we are. January 21st it is.
In one corner, you have Ashanti. Her self-titled debut album Ashanti went 3X platinum. It featured the mega hit Foolish which topped the Hot 100. Her second album, Chapter II continued the success, with the hits Rock Wit U and Rain on Me. However, where many people call question on Ashanti is that they see her as a feature artist. A victim of her own success, Ashanti had so many hits with her collaborations with Ja Rule, with big singles like What's Luv, Always on Time, and Mesmerize.

She has seven studio albums to her name, and while none have never hit the same heights as Ashanti's debut, she has been able to cook up three albums that went platinum. Her sophomore record, Just Like You was her biggest record, selling 1.7 million copies. It featured three #1 hits on the R&B charts, "Let It Go," "I Remember," and "Heaven Sent." She doesn't have the same clout when a featured artist, but her solo efforts have a much longer string of hits compared to Ashanti.
Either way, it should be a fun opportunity to experience these two great women at work. I don't know if it will compare to the old school verzuz we covered the other day between H-Town vs Portrait, but it will still be a good time. Do you plan to check it out? Which woman do you think is the stronger contender?
