90s R&B Artists Performing at the Soul Train Awards 2020
The Soul Train Awards happened last night, and as usual, provided a great opportunity to see some classic 90s R&B singers back on stage. With a tribute to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (who have their own new music out), the collection of artists was even larger than usual. We've got all of the videos below for you to check out and enjoy! We'll also be adding them to each artist's music videos page where you can see more performances by them.
First up, Boyz II Men and Stokley paid tribute to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Boyz II Men sang Tender Love and On Bended Knee. Stokley followed up with performances of She and Breakin My Heart.
Monica received recognition as the 2020 Lady of Soul. With this recognition she did a 10 minute performance of a selection of songs. She performed her new single Trenches, as well as classics like Don't Take It Personal, Before You Walk Out My Life, and Angel of Mine.
Babyface made a performance, doing a duet with Lucky Daye. The two performed their hit song, Shoulda. The track borrows from the Toni Braxton hit Love Shoulda Brought You Home Last Night. Babyface is definitely on the supporting side here, but it's interesting to see how songs continue and evolve over the years.
Stokley, Shanice, Chante Moore, and PJ Morton performed together. They performed a medley of tracks and blended it together with some major soul vibes. It's a cool performance and a good way to enjoy a variety of songs. A lot of talent and solid vocals throughout.
Last we had Brandy, performing some of the songs from her new B7 album. She performed both Say Something and Borderline at the show.
Overall, the Soul Train Awards are always a great show for seeing live music. There were a lot of great performances by 90s R&B artists this year. Which one was your favorite?
