Special Generation

Special Generation

Special Generation was a quintet that started up as back-up singers for M.C. Hammer. After working with him on several recordings, they were signed to his Bust It Record label.

In 1990, the group released their debut album Take It To The Floor. The album had trouble differentiating itself from the various other R&B groups out at the time, but still scored several reasonable hits. 'Love Me Just For Me' was the group's biggest hit, reaching #8 on the R&B charts and #91 on the Hot 100. The group's remake of The Stylistics song 'You Are Everything' reached #91 on the R&B charts and 'Spark of Love' reached #26.

The group's second album, Butterflies, came out in 1992 and had a strong line-up of producers. It's first single, 'Lift Your Head And Smile,' did well, reaching #13 on the R&B charts. However, following the single, the group was never heard from again.
