2020 in Review: Popular Music Videos

feature image

One of our distinct features on this site is that we have tracked down and catalogued over 2300 music videos. These videos include conventional music videos, live concert footage, and interviews with artists. We are continuing to expand this number every day, and have tracked down some rare videos that didn't see releases in the United States.

Music videos have been one of our favorite parts of building this site. They act as a time capsule, showcasing the styles and feel of different time periods in R&B music. The concert footage lets us see what concerts were like that we'll never be able to go to, by artists who have passed away or have gotten too old to continue touring. And the interviews allow us to find out information about artists that have never otherwise been categorized anywhere on the internet.

With all that in mind, we wanted to look at what music videos resonated most with our viewers. These are the five most popular music videos on R&B Haven during 2020.

Willie Max - Can't Get Enough

The most popular video on R&B Haven was Willie Max single "Can't Get Enough" in collaboration with Raphael Saadiq. The song is sexy and sensual, and the video matches that atmosphere in full. Raphael Saadiq's contributions add more soulful sound to the track. A great song, it's awesome seeing it getting the attention it deserves.

Goodfellaz planet groove interview and performance

Planet Groove was an awesome show. It let you see up and coming artists perform, and to watch up close and personal interviews. I'm happy to see Goodfellaz appearance on the show get attention here as we actually have some surprises with Goodfellaz coming up in the new year. We spoke with group member Angel Vasquez about the group's history and where things are today, so continue to check back if you're interested in knowing more about this fun group.

Jade - Every Day of the Week

Jade will always hold a special place in our heart as fans of 90s R&B. Joi Marshall of Jade was actually the first interview we ever did on the site. Check out our Joi Marshall interview after enjoying this great song. This track is classic 90s, and the girls of Jade just kill it.

N-Phase - Spend the Night

We have kept no secret about how much we enjoy N-Phase's Spend the Night. We picked this song as our song of the week, because we love the guys harmonies. The delivery on the track is great, it's crazy to think that N-Phase was going to be a one album wonder when they put this out.

Subway - Fire

It's appropriate as the site focuses on 90s R&B that all five of the popular videos feature R&B groups. The fifth most popular music video is no exception as Subway's Fire wraps up the list. A classic 90s R&B track, it has such a great serenade delivery. The chorus connects with such a nice high school feel to it, I know I had this track on heavy rotation growing up.

It has been a great year reliving classic 90s R&B music. Are there any R&B music videos you haven't been able to find on the site but you know are out there? What are your favorite videos?
