Song of the Week: Tina Moore - Never Gonna Let You Go
Tina Moore came onto the scene in 1995 with her self-titled debut album. The album, Tina Moore, was released by RCA and had several singles chart on the R&B charts.
The most prominent single from the album was Never Gonna Let You Go. The track reached #27 on the US R&B charts. In addition to its success in the US, the track was part of Tina Moore's big success in the UK. She had two top twenty hits in the UK as tracks from her album had remixes into the UK garage style.
The video for the song featured shots of a small town with a train running through it, Tina Moore dancing in various contexts, and her cuddling up with a man in various locations.
For those unfamiliar with Tina Moore, her vocals are impressive. On the verses, she reminds me a lot of Toni Braxton, though her voice is a bit higher. She had such talented vocals, it's a shame she wasn't able to leverage it into a bigger career.
