New Video: Mya - Space and Time

While working on her 10th studio album, Mya released a music video for her song Space and Time. This track is another example of how Mya is taking full control of her career now. For the video, she acted as producer, editor and creative director.

The video was shot during the pandemic and so it's very low key in its style. It features Mya alone at a farm, wandering around a barn and pasture. While Space and Time's music video isn't going to blow anyone away, it captures the feeling of this time period well and resonates with the song's message. Utilize this weird time in our lives to reflect and take some space and time.

The song was produced by the team Louis York (Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony). Another site compared the song to Des'ree's You Gotta Be, and I think it's a good comparison. It's about taking care of yourself and self-reflecting. After Usher's I Cry, he could listen to this song to learn how to deal with it all.

Mya sounds good on the track and looks like she hasn't aged a minute. I'm more used to her up-tempo dance numbers, so it's a nice change of pace for me to hear her slowing things down. I'm excited to see if we get more of this carefree Mya on the new album. No matter what we end up with, it's safe to say it will be worth picking up.
