Kut Klose returns to R&B with Congratulations

Kut Klose is back with a new single, "Congratulations." This is the first new music from the group in over a decade. The women have been touring some in the meantime and it's great to see them now attempting to go all in.

The song "Congratulations," is a nod to womens empowerment, praising women for their successes. It's important to celebrate women and their great achievements and this song is recognition of that. The verses are a bit underwhelming to me, a bit too stop and go to make me get engrossed in the song, but not powerful enough to fit the traditional anthem vibe.

The track is accompanied by a video featuring women standing up for their rights and accomplishing things. I laughed when the song mentioned negativity and cut to Donald Trump right at that moment. The other shots in the video feature a wide array of women, from Beyonce winning awards for Lemonade, to the movie Hidden Figures, and civil rights figures marching.

This isn't the first time the women of Kut Klose have attempted to return to R&B. As mentioned earlier, they put out the song "Let It Ring" in 2010. The track was intended as part of an effort to put out a new album but nothing ever came from that, so hopefully this time is different.

It's great to see all these R&B girl groups coming back. We recently mentioned that Xscape is working on new music, and planning a Verzuz with SWV. And now, seeing that these women seem to stick together as Athena Cage, Lavonn Battle and Tabitha Duncan are all back for this effort, it's a good sign. Listen to the track below and let us know what you think.
