New Music: H-Town - Green Light 713

H-Town is one of those iconic groups that had the carpet pulled out from under them. While the group was working on their album, Imitations of Life, lead singer Dino Conner was killed in a tragic car accident. Still, the group continued on, releasing an album, Child Support, in 2015.

The group is back at it again, with a new single, "Green Light 713". The track is a remix of the original Green Light from the aforementioned Child Support album. Shazam (Dino's brother) and G.I continue to carry the group's style and tone, delivering a track that fits in well with their original work. On this updated version of the track, Lil' Flip makes an appearance with a verse.

Comparing it to their previous take on the track, I feel like the original "Green Light" did have a smoother sound to it. The mixing just sounded purer in the original version, whereas something just doesn't quite sound as clean here. Still, it's a nice take on their previous version. Lil' Flip is a nice addition, providing them another Houston voice, and adding some punch to the track.

Overall, it's nice to see these guys continue putting out music that stays true to their style and keeping the group name alive. We'll never know what could have been if Dino hadn't died, but at least we're able to enjoy what the group has done instead. Be sure to check out the track below and let us know what you think of it.
