New Video: Case - Until This Day

Case is out with a new song, Until This Day. The track is a collaboration with producer Salaam Remi.

The song has a classic sound to the melody, feeling reminiscent to me of some older Stevie Wonder tracks. It's a nice pleasant listen, as the vocals sway along. Case always has such a distinct voice and it works well on this track. I don't feel like he has an amazing range, but his delivery always carries the right mix. Lyrically, the track is fairly straightforward, reflecting on how great it is now coming to be in love with someone.

The video for this track is definitely a product of the pandemic and keeps it simple. Case is largely peforming in an apartment, while either gazing out the window or at the camera. The major shakeup comes with some clips outside of a church, though even in these parts, Case remains solitary. The video is nothing adventurous, but it is effective, especially given the limitations of the time period.

The track is part of Salaam Remi's upcoming album, Black on Purpose. The album features a number of big collaborations, showcasing the clout Salaam has and the enthusiasm people have to work with him. For those unfamiliar with Salaam, he's had four grammy nominations for best R&B song with Jazmine Sullivan's Lions, Tigers & Bears and Bust Your Windows, Tamia's Beautiful Surprise, and Miguel's Come Through and Chill. And of course, he had extensive involvement in Amy Winehouse's work as well.

Overall, that's going to be an album to watch out for as we're seeing one of the top producers of R&B hard at work. Check out Black on Purpose when it comes out on November 5th, 2020.
