New Video: After 7 - Bittersweet

After 7 is bringing their sound back to R&B with a new single, Bittersweet. The track is part of an upcoming album, Unfinished Business.

This release is the first by After 7 since their 2016 album Timeless, and the 2019 passing of group member Melvin Edmonds. With Melvin's passing, his son Jason Edmonds also left the group, leaving us with a new composition on this coming release. In its current form, the group is comprised of Kevon Edmonds, Danny McClain, and Keith Mitchell.

I was underwhelmed by the group's previous release, Timeless. Listening to Bittersweet, I find it hard to get excited about this track either. Kevon still sounds incredible, and Danny McClain is a solid addition during his verse. I just struggle with it, feeling like the track lacks the heart that I know the guys are capable of.

To promote the track, After 7 released a new music video for it. It is definitely low budget, but I think my biggest problem is the choreography. It looks a bit too choreographed. I think I'd prefer to see the guys in a more relaxed environment, this setup in the video just doesn't quite resonate right.

Still, I'm never one to turn down new music from After 7. We did an interview with Keith Mitchell back in 2009 and really appreciated his perspectives on R&B music. So check out the song below, and let us know what you think of the new After 7!
