As we relaunched R&B Haven in 2020, we had a lot of catching up to do on R&B music news. Fortunately, while the 90s are 20 years away now, there are tons of artists from the time period who are still consistently putting out music and keeping us entertained.

For anyone who just emerged from a deep slumber and wanted to know what they missed in 2020, here's the place to start. These are the most popular news stories in 2020. Be sure to check back over the next few days as we look at other popular portions of the site.

Jagged Love Story album release

Jagged Edge had been teasing a new album for a while, releasing several singles in 2019 and the early months of 2020. With the pandemic, the album saw several delays, but our viewers were clearly eagerly awaiting its release as it was the biggest news story of the year on the site. People connected with Jagged Love Story and its massive tracklist made the shelter in place a little more tolerable.

Sisqo, Shawn Stockman, Raheem DeVaughn and Omar Wilson release Secret Garden

This story feels appropriate to be one of the biggest news stories of 2020 as it is a collaboration of some of the biggest names in 90s R&B. Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men and Sisqo of Dru Hill is massive star power. Add in Raheem DeVaughn and Omar Wilson and you're looking at a classic record. The quartet later released a video for the track which is also well worth checking out.

Dru Hill changes its name to Smoke n Black Dragon

Seems Sisqo is a popular news item based upon these two news items. This item came out of left field as Dru Hill changed its name to instead be Smoke N Black Dragon. The new name was intended to reflect the new makeup of Dru Hill, and is probably more appropriate as the group has so little resemblance to early Dru Hill versions. I wish more groups would change their name when their membership changed, but I understand why they don't.

Jagged Edge Seasons of Us gets released

Bryan-Michael Cox and Jagged Edge are magic together. When Jagged Edge released Seasons of Us from their new album and it was linked to Bryan-Michael Cox, people were understandably excited. Fortunately, the song lived up to expectations as it was easily the best song on the album. If you haven't heard it yet, be sure to check it out.

Brian McKnight releases single Stay on Your Mind

Brian McKnight announced what is to be his last album of original material this year, Exodus. To promote the album, he released the single Stay on Your Mind, along with a visual. The song was a solid number and come on, it's Brian McKnight. If anything, it's surprising this wasn't bigger news.

There you have it, the five biggest news items in 2020. Overall, it was a great year for 90s artists as we had several solid returns to form. What big news stories are you hoping to see in 2021? Be sure to check back over the next few days as we look at the most popular artists, videos, and more.
