Soulstone Reinvents R&B, Bridges Genres
- I understand you have an album out titled "Music. Love. Truth." Can you tell me a little about the album? What can listeners expect from it and what were some of your goals in putting this record together?
Music.Love.Truth. is really just the three of us sharing past & present experiences as individuals and a collective, fully and honestly expressing our thoughts on happenings pertaining to everyday Life, Love & Everything else. Expect a widely eclectic journey ranging from R&B to Soul to Neo Soul, with an element of Reggae and Rock. A little something for all.
- For visitors outside of South Africa, what options are available to check out the album and to purchase it?

- On the topic of South Africa, what's the R&B scene like there?
Though the R&B Scene is finally beginning to take off in SA, record companies are still skeptic about the genre since it's considered to be a very niche/untested market. The artists that are emerging show great talent and with a bit more experience and exposure will without a doubt be a force to be reckoned with in future.
This is quite evident in the emergence of Indie labels and Artists who now are "Doing For Themselves".
- Bringing the focus back to the group, where do you go from here? What does the group have planned for the months and years ahead?
For now we're heavily focused on Promoting the album in an attempt to showcase not only our abilities as artists but as Lyricists, Producers, and as Composers. This since SoulStone has entirely Written, Composed, Produced and Arranged all of the material on "Music.Love.Truth". We've also started working on material for up and coming artists and Artist already in the industry.
- To wrap things up, R&B Haven is a 90s R&B site so I'm curious. What are some of your favorite 90s R&B songs?
Major influences would be the likes of Mint Condition, Silk, Shai, Babyface, Brian McKnight (Whom we recently had the pleasure of meeting as he's doing an SA tour). The biggest I guess would be Boyz II Men, since they truly epitomises the Group scene in the 90's and to a large extent, still do today.
If we had to choose 3 songs which stand out (which is very difficult considering our vast range of taste) it would be: Mint Condition's "This Day, This Minute, Right Now", Boyz II Men's "Motownphilly", and Silk's "Girl U For Me".
- Thanks again guys. I wish you the best of luck in your careers and hope you'll keep myself and R&B Haven updated on your progress.
We certainly will. Thank you so much for presenting us with the opportunity to show the world how much we love what we do and our passion for doing so.
