Voices Of Theory

Voices Of Theory

Voices of Theory was a latino R&B group that came from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The group was comprised of Mechi Cebollero, James Cartagena, Hector Ramos, David Cordova and Mike Galvis.

Hailing from Philadelphia, the group was often considered a Latin version of fellow Philadelphians, Boyz II Men. When Voices of Theory first came onto the scene, known simply as Theory, they got their chance to shine when they opened for Mariah Carey at 12 of her shows in 1993.

The group seemed to be developing a successful name as that same year they were asked to record "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," the title track for the movie Calendar Girl. However, tragedy struck and the group's mentor, manager, and friend, Melvin Wallace, was murdered in 1995.

In 1997, the group found new management under Jellybean Benitez and resumed recording. They released their self-titled debut in 1998 and scored several successful singles. "Say It" reached #10 on the Hot 100 and the album's other single, "Wherever You Go" reached #36 on the Hot 100.
