Troop

Troop formed in the late 80s in Pasadena, California. The group is comprised of childhood friends Steve russell, Allen McNeil, John Harreld, Rodney Benford and Reggie Warren. They got their first break into the industry after winning a televised talent show that drew interest from record labels.

The group released their self-titled debut in 1988 and with their first single, 'Mamacita', found themselves hitting high on the charts. 'Mamacita' reached number 2 on the R&B Charts. The group was well known for their strong vocals in live performances and for their wild dance routines.

Their second album 'Attitude' was released in 1989 and featured hit singles 'Spread My Wings' and 'All I Do is Think of You' which both hit #1 on the R&B charts. Thanks in part to these hit singles, the album ended up going platinum.

In 1992, the group released their third album, Deepa. The group again had a number 1 single on their hands as 'Sweet November' topped the R&B charts.

The group released two more albums during the 90s, putting out A Lil Sumpin Sumpin in 1994 and Mayday in 1998. With five albums under their belt, the group decided to take time off and allow members to do their own things.

However, Troop was not through yet and in 2004, burst back on the scene. The group is working on a sixth album and has toured with many big name artists in the past few years.
