Next
Next is comprised of R.L. Huggar, and brothers T-Low and Tweety and foremd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. R.L. met the brothers through their uncle who directed a gospel choir.
The group's debut album Rated Next was released in 1997 and had slow initial sales. Its first single 'Butta Love' reached #4 on the R&B charts but failed to move records. It was the group's second single, 'Too Close' that put them on the charts, reaching #1 on the Hot 100 and reaching platinum status itself. Driven by the hit single, Rated Next went platinum and then, in 2000, finally went double platinum. The album's third single, 'I Still Love You' likely helped it make that final push, reaching #4 on the R&B charts like 'Butta Love' had done.
Their second album, Welcome II Nextasy (playing off of their name in the album title became a theme for the group), was released in 2000 and managed to go gold. It had the hit single 'Wifey' which reached #1 on the R&B charts.
The group's last album to date, The Next Episode, was released in 2002. The album failed to make a significant impact. Nevertheless, the group is working on a new album that is said to have production by Jermaine Dupri and some writing done by Babyface.
