Jon B

Jonathan 'Jon B' Buck was born in Rhode Island but raised in Pasadena, California. His grandparents owned a record store which guaranteed his immersion in music. He found himself especially listening to The Bee Gees, Earth, Wind and Fire and Diana Ross. The love for music stayed in Jon's heart and after graduating from high school, he decided to go down the road of music instead of college.

The summer after his high school graduation, Jon wrote, produced and recorded 40 songs. Wasting no time, Jon met with Babyface and was signed to Edmonds Record Group. Jon had been looking to start out as a songwriter and producer but Babyface was keen on having him record.

The relationship worked as seen by Jon's debut album, Bonafide, released in 1995. The album went platinum and had the hit single 'Someone to Love' featuring babyface.

Jon B picked up steam from there, releasing his second album, Cool Relax, in 1998. 'They Don't Know,' the album's first single, went platinum and reached #1 on the R&B charts. His second single, 'Are You Still Down' also performed well on the charts.

His third album, Pleasures U Like did not fair quite as well, when it came out in 2001, but it still managed to reach number 3 on the R&B charts. In 2004, Jon B released Stronger Everyday to disappointing sales. Believing the album to be his best to date, Jon accredits the albums poor performance to the lack of promotion by his record label, Sanctuary Records.
