Ginuwine

Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, known as Ginuwine, was born in 1970 in Washington, DC. He went to Prince Georges Community College in Largo, Maryland and got a paralegal degree.

His first break into the music industry was as a member of the Swing Mob. While a member, he met Missy Elliot and Timbaland who were two of his key collaborators.

Ginuwine's first album, Ginuwine... The Bachelor, was highly successful, going double platinum. The album featured Timbaland's solid production and Ginuwin's vocals, making for a strong combination. The album's single, 'Pony,' hit #1 on the R&B charts and #6 on the Hot 100, going platinum.

In 1999, Ginuwine came out with his second album, 100% Ginuwine. The album repeated the success of the first, going double platinum. The album had singles 'So Anxious' which reached #2 on the R&B charts and 'None of Ur Friends Business' which reached #7.

Parting ways with Timbaland, Ginuwine's third album had more influence from R. Kelly. The album, The Life, featured the single 'Differences' which hit #1 on the R&B charts and #4 on the Hot 100. Driven by the single, the album was able to go platinum.

The Senior, Ginuwine's fourth album, was released in 2003 and had similar success to The Life. The album went platinum and featured 'In Those Jeans' which hit #3 on the R&B charts.

In 2005, Ginuwine released the album Back II Da Basics.
