Blackgirl

Blackgirl

BlackGirl formed in 1992 and was comprised of Pam Copeland, Nycolia 'Tye-V' Turman and Rochelle Stuart of Atlanta, Georgia. The group was signed to RCA records and released their debut album in 1994.

The girls debut album, Treat U Right, had several decent hits on the charts. 'Krazy' reached #91 on the Hot 100 and #37 on the R&B charts while '90s Girl' reached #71 and #13 on the two charts. The girls last single, 'Where Did We Go Wrong' reached #39 on the R&B charts. The strength of these three singles helped the album go gold.

Following the group's album, the girls became a well recognized female R&B act. As such, they scored a TV ad with Chrysler, singing their single '90s Girl.' The group toured with R. Kelly and then appeared on the single 'Freedom' from the movie Panther. The group scored their fourth top 40 hit on the R&B charts, (not including 'Freedom') with 'Let's Do It Again' which reached #25 on the R&B charts.

In 1996, the girls decided to break up. Nycolia went on to write and do back up for Pink, Toni Braxton and Will Smith.
