R&B Guru 2010-01-28 11:28:32 Total Posts: 2527 | I meant to add them in the new artists ection eventually. Basically "Ruff Endz" = k-ci & jojo knock off. Though they had some great songs :)
Moofu 2010-01-28 21:36:56 Total Posts: 725 | They were originally a four man group, I dunno what happened to the other 2 guys.

Jermaine88 2010-01-29 14:30:12 Total Posts: 298 | Ruff Endz wanted to separate themselves from the other two guys. Baltimore had a few groups on the come up competing between during the early and mid 90's. Dru Hill, a group Scola who later joined Dru Hill was in, the group the members of Ruff Endz was in, and a group that featured members of the group Prophet Jones they all repped B-More and surrounding areas. Tao Dru Hill's new member was in a Annapolis, Maryland group that was produced by Jazz and signed to his label Taj Entertainment. Jazz produced some songs for them and Sisqo & Nokio also helped the group out so that's the connection between Tao & how he's in Dru Hill now but he won the audition to be their new member fair and squarte though. The members had their own production companies so had their ear to the streets and Nokio was an A&R at Def Jam before they got dropped by L.A. Reid which I felt was dirty. I liked Def Jam when they had all the Def Soul artists and folks like Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles, Lyor Cohen, Nokio and others were running things now L.A. replaced that good talent with some hot garbage they got DJ Khaled as the A&R now Nokio was much better as so was Jermaine Durpi & Shakir Stewart (RIP).
lpc26 2010-01-29 17:49:09 Total Posts: 732 | LA Reid went to Def Jam? I don't know why I'm thinking he was still at Arista. I was thinking about this the other day how Def Jam had such great artists even rap artists like DMx, LL Cool J, Foxy Brown, Jay-Z, etc. Then Def Soul came along which was home to Kelly Price, Playa, Dru Hill, Musiq, and others. I didn't know Nokio was the A&R at Def Jam he sure did run things smoothly and so did Russel Simmons.
Jermaine88 2010-01-29 21:16:57 Total Posts: 298 | Yep he was cause Kevin Liles & Lyor Cohen gave it to him and he deserved it. He was expected to stay when L.A. Reid and his crew took over but L.A. didn't think the artists on Def Soul would be successful cause they sang that smoother sounding R&B. He wanted to get fresh talent, his first move was to drop 3rd Storee who Nokio brought to Def Jam and he was pissed off then he dropped Dru Hill, Playa was still there when L.A. took over as well but they was held in limbo like Dru Hill. Montell Jordan, Kelly Price, Musiq Soulchild, and Case wanted out cause L.A. started messing things up. LL Cool J, DMX, Method Man, Redman tried to blame Jay-Z but it wasn't him. L.A. screwed Jay, Jermaine Dupri and Shakir Stewart over also. The real reason Shakir Stewart committed suicide is cause he was going out the door with JD cause they wanted to keep people that L.A. didn't want like Jagged Edge & 112. Shakir got his walking papers plus L.A. Reid didn't like Brutha, Bobby Valentino and others on Disturbing Tha Peace. Ludacris also got into it with L.A. Reid. Def Jam is a sinking ship when the biggest R&B artists are Ne-Yo & Rhianna then you know it's a sinking ship. L.A. Reid took over and underminded the very label Russell Simmons & Rick Rubin started. Russell was upset that all the artists were gone Musiq knew what was goin on cause he went with Kevin Liles & Lyor Cohen to Atlantic.

lpc26 2010-02-08 13:00:37 Total Posts: 732 | Wow Jermaine that is crazy. Ne-Yo is an ok singer but Rhianna I don't like her much. She can't sing to me. I can't believe that are the kind of singers LA Reid wanted. What did he think about his artists at LaFace Records? @Diop the songs the song I like by Ruff Endz is "someone to love you" and of course "no more". and I like "love crimes".
