I remember watching an interview with Dalvin Degrate where he mentioned Boyz II Men being strictly pop not R&B. I think Jodeci changed what defined R&B during the 90s. Wholesome boys next door groups (boyz II Men,All 4 One Etc.) were considered pop because they didn't fit the "thug" image jodeci created. | |||

But, what I meant is that the "thug" persona is what became popular and more R&B artists/groups copied that. Ginuwine, Usher, Jagged Edge, Dru Hill and 112 etc... It doesn't eliminate the others but I think as that image caught on those who didn't follow were pushed aside as to being "pop" acts. | |||
