"My Prerogative" by Bobby Brown was originally intended for Keith Sweat, but Keith let him have it.

"My My My" by Johnny Gill was originally intended for Babyface himself (who wrote it/produced it) but he said it didn't sound right when he tried to sing it the way he wanted to.

"Give U My Heart" by Toni Braxton was originally intended for Anita Baker but scheduling conflicts with Anita and Babyface made Face give the track to Toni who was on the come up and a perfect match for the song.

"Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake was originally intended for Michael Jackson, (mainly the beat) but the beat went to JT instead.

add on some unknown "intentions"...

hah nice. This is going to be a hard one to come up with stuff for, but great if we can generate the list.

I'll have to see how many i can recall over the years.

R. Kelly made "more and more" for himself, but gave it to Joe.

And Joe made "missing you" but ended up giving it to Case(which became Case's biggest hit). Joe what were you thing hahahaha.

lol, I'm working on it buddha!

I can't believe all those songs were for Michael. Man, dude could have put out a huge album in the 2000s.

The only one I know off the top of my head is that "Rainy Dayz" by Mary J. Blige was originally intended for TLC (hence the reference to the song "Waterfalls"). Apparently they turned it down though.

I have a few for you:

R. Kelly originally wrote "Half on a Baby" for Bobby Brown, but ended up using it on his R. Album.

Usher's "The Many Ways" was intended for Tevin Campbell.

Babyface wrote "Every Little Step" for himself, but gave it Bobby Brown.

A few Jam/Lewis songs from Johnny Gill's self-titled Motown album was written for Alexander O'Neal.

Michael Jackson and Teddy Riley co-wrote "Joy" for the Dangerous Album, but it didn't make it. A few years later, Teddy called up Michael and asked him if Blackstreet could record it.

^^^^yup. I know that...some of the stuff that Jam and Lewis did for Johnny Gill in 1990 was supposed to be for Alex's All True Man album the next year (a fav of mine). I know for sure Wrap My Body Tight was supposed to be for Alex. And 'Joy' was supposed to be for Mike Jack. I was gonna put that in my original post..... I knew I was missing something.

Didn't know Every Little Step was for Bobby himself though, It sounds like Face wrote it/produced it just for Bobby and was not intended for himself at all.

Introduces two questions. One, if artists ever recorded these versions, and two, would they have been as successful.

Some tracks I'm not sure on..

Sam Salter performed Babyface's Color Of Love before Boyz II Men did, not sure if it was actually meant for him though

And then you have the song "If I Was The One" which both Luther Vandross AND Ruff Endz did almost months apart. But again, not sure who the track was originally for.

I know that this is before than the 90's, but El DeBarge wrote "All This Love" for Marvin Gaye, but when Marvin left Motown, Debarge recorded it for themselves.

3t's "Why", written by Babyface, was originally written for Michael Jackson to be on the HIStory Double Albun, but MJ felt that his nephews should have the song.

Beyonce's Irreplaceable was originally written for Chrisette Michele.

Babyface's Tender Lover was intended for both Lionel Richie and The Jacksons (minus Michael).
