What do you think is the best year in R&B music of the 90's?

Personally, I'm gonna have to say 1993 (the best IMO, and my favorite) with 1996 probably being 2nd.

1993 had:

Tony Toni Tone - Sons of Soul
Jodeci - Diary Of A Mad Band
Xscape - Hummin' Coming At Cha
R. Kelly - 12 Play
Mint Condition - From The Mint Factory
Janet Jackson - janet.
Mariah Carey - Music Box
UNV - Something's Goin' On
Intro - Intro
Johnny Gill - Provocative
Aaron Hall - The Truth
H-Town - Fever For Da Flavor
Tevin Campbell - I'm Ready
Joe - Everything
II D Extreme - II D Extreme
Toni Braxton - Toni Braxton
Uptown MTV Unplugged
Mary J. Blige - Whats The 411? Remix
Hi-Five - Faithful
Luther Vandross - Never Let Me Go
Bell Biv Devoe - Hootie Mack
D.R.S. - Gangsta Lean
...(I think I'm missing some albums from this list...)

Singles from 1992 albums that were big in 1993:

SWV - Weak
Portrait - Here We Go Again!
Shai - Baby I'm Yours
Shai - Comforter
Silk - Freak Me
Whitney Houston - I Have Nothing
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
Brian McKnight - One Last Cry
SWV - I'm So Into You
Silk - Girl U For Me
Bobby Brown - Get Away
R Kelly - Sex Me
R Kelly - Dedicated
Jade - Don't Walk Away
SWV - Right Here (Human Nature)
Zhane - Hey Mr DJ
Christopher Williams - Every Little Thing You Do
Whitney Houston - I'm Every Woman
...and more that can't come to me off the top of my head.

I was gonna do the same for 1996 and make a list, but this would be one long post! Probably later in an other post...

Do y'all agree or disagree? What do y'all think is the best (or your favorite) year in R&B music of the 90's?

Hrmmm, I don't know, though it's going to be tough to go through all of em :). Hopefully when I finish up the discographies, I can make a way to view music by year. Picking a year after looking over its top hits, 1994 had a pretty good field to compete with that.

Tevin Campbell - Can We Talk (93-94)
Jodeci - Cry For You
Xscape - Understanding
R Kelly - Bump N Grind
Janet - Any Time, Any Place
Boyz II Men - I'll Make Love To You
Boyz II Men - On Bended Knee
TLC - Creep
Toni Braxton - You Mean the World to Me
All 4 One - I Swear

However, the reason I'll go with it more than anything is that two artists I really enjoy hit their peaks in 1994, and All 4 One and Aaliyah both debuted then.

Album Wise:
All-4-One debuted with All 4 One
Aaliyah debuted with Age Ain't Nothin But A Number
Boyz II Men hit the heights with II
TLC climbed to the top with CrazySexyCool

For me it's from 1993 - 1995!
The period when male and female groups were a dime a dozen. So much to keep up with to the point were some came and left unnoticed!

Remember the group Sister, that's one that came and went. At least we got Missy out the deal. LOL

Too true 90s4eternity. I feel like in the mid 1990s, you got about a million knock off groups, plus all the legends that continued on. But the best part was, even the knockoffs were great back then!

You right the knockoffs handled their business in the studio. I guess they didn't want to waste their money or the label's money which is their money. No matter how you look at it. LOL

I have been out of pocket for the last 2 weeks, but I wanted to chime in on the discussion. IMO, you can put 93 against 94 and half the time 93 would win and the other half 94 would win. I will agree with 90s4eternity that 93-95 were great years.
