And Why his albums are considered "classic". Can any D'angelo fan give me a rundown of why you think he's so great? I want to like him, but I just think he's overrated. Anyone? | |||

However, I really don't even know what Neo-Soul neans anymore because I heard some people argue Brian McKnight is neo. Before it was artists who's music had 60/70s influence ex. Jaheim uses a lot of classic soul music arrangements. | |||

I'm not a big fan of the genre, I can understand why they would draw some influence from the classics but it just doesn't seem the same. For example, if I hear the classic soul ballads and compare it to a neo-soul artist. It's like the passion and the "feel" of the music is off. Somebody like John Legend of Raphael Saadiq are commendable for wanted to keep the old sound alive but I just find it boring and bland. I don't really know how to explain it. | |||
