Don't know if you guys saw it but Boyz II Men recently announced a new album due out November 10, 2009. The downside is, the album is ANOTHER cover album. I'm getting worried that Boyz II Men will soon be seen as just a cover group that can't do any of their own music. Which... isn't really a great reputation to have.

Still, of their last few albums, Motown, a cover album, was probably one of the best. So who knows.

Shawn said his giant ring in their latest YouTube video reveals the name of the album, but I couldn't read it for beans. I want to say Throwback Volume 2 but it doesn't look like it haha. You can see the video and screen caps here:

What do you guys think?

I guess that is kind of bad news. I want Boyz II Men to come out with an album of their own music. They already did two albums of cover music. That is nice that they are doing that, but I want to see them make their own music again.

SMH. These cover albums need to be SIDE projects.

I'm with you Havok. It seems strange it would take them two years to make an album that's simply cover tracks. They've GOT to be working on original stuff too.

Plenty of artists do cover albums, but one, maybe two. Def not THREE cover albums like this. My only hope is since the material this time is a lot diferent (Journey - Open Arms is confirmed), maybe they will be more creative with it

Yeah, that's funny cause i heard All 4 One is having a new album come out in August, and its NOT a cover album from my understanding... so that will be interesting... since there is some competition between the two, although its friendly... found out from here

Nice, cool stuff. I don't know if there's so much competition as much as there's people who mistake All 4 One's hits as Boyz II Men songs haha. That's really good though, I've liked a lot of All 4 One's stuff, even though they don't get much love.

Here's a snippet of Boyz II Men doing Open Arms. It sounds pretty good.

For real right? They should be building up their back catalog of songs still, not doing other peoples

It's fine... but once you do it over and over again and don't put out anything new... it's not as good anymore

SO many soul artists are putting out lame cover albums. Boyz II Men just seems to fall apart without Babyface, they need to get back together for some original material.

I feel you. I don't know if they were just like "Wow, remedy sucked... we CANT do original material anymore" or if they're just getting lazy
