| Why Michael Jackson Was So Awesome | ||||
R&B Guru 2009-06-26 07:13:35 Total Posts: 2527 | So I'm drawing up plans for a Michael Jackson reflection and I've been trying to gauge what to put in it, what to play etc. However, most important is just the reflecting. What was so amazing about Michael Jackson? I don't think a lot of the young kids today really appreciate just how huge Michael Jackson's career was, but what made him amazing for you? To put it out there: MJ was the first artist to ever have four top ten hits on an album. Thriller sold TWENTY SIX MILLION albums in the United States alone (what's that... 1 in every 10 people at the time?), and SEVEN of its nine tracks became top ten singles on the Hot 100. To me, that's the craziest stat. Talk about an album with no filler when EVERY track was a successful single. Maybe even more impressive, and often overlooked today, is how charitable Michael Jackson was. To give you some excerpts: When he suffered severe burns during a Pepsi commercial and received $1.5 million in compensation, the money was donated to charity to help develop technology to aid burn victims. Likewise, when he earned five million dollars for a 1984 tour, he donated the entire thing to charity. This act of charity continued throughout, with him co-writing the song “We Are the World,” which sold 20 million copies and went to aid people in Africa. While on the Dangerous tour, Michael Jackson performed for 3.5 million people and donated all profits to charity. The dude was friggin a legend for sure. He gets so much beef today, but he donated SO much money to charity. What do you guys think is most awesome about Michael?

It's our way of slowing down and giving tribute to the most influencial artist the music industry has ever seen. Hope you all enjoy. Kind Regards, JP J Pad Music, LLC www.jpadmusic.com

It's funny, my R&B news blog has fallen a ton in hits since Michael Jackson died, and I think the reason is that no one is really focused on any other R&B news right now. So prob a good idea to just play the mj tunes.

R&B Guru 2009-06-28 20:17:11 Total Posts: 2527 | Haha me too. I posted ALL of his music videos on the soulofrnb.com blog and man, they all were so good. I forgot some of his songs but loved it. I put together the video reflection. You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNdvTzluyI0&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rnbhaven.com%2F&feature=player_embedded Unfortunately, the middle iwth the moonwalk is a little choppy as I had to cut parts of it to make it save properly. It looked really sweet before with interviews/reflections from the show.

lpc26 2009-07-03 18:02:27 Total Posts: 735 | Alright R&B Guru so far so good. What made Michael amazing to me is: 1. The songs he made. Every song he made would just turn to gold it seem like and would touch a person in some kind of way. 2. I think it was amazing how Michael had a crowd of fans that wanted to be him or was just inspired by him. 3. Of course how he donates money to charity. It seem like Michael would give his heart and soul just to help people in need. 4. Another thing that made him amazing is how he opened up a theme park!! You don't find to many celebrities that opens their own theme park and Michael is the only one that pulled it off. 5. The music videos he did. Those videos turned to gold to not to much to say about that except GENIUS.
R&B Guru 2009-07-03 21:23:38 Total Posts: 2527 | Agreed on the music videos. I can't really ever watch them in full because I just never have the time to sit there and watch 15 minutes of video, but dang he def put his effort into making everything perfect!
lpc26 2009-07-04 07:09:13 Total Posts: 735 | Yes he did. I think his longest video was "Thriller" and he made a short flim called "GHOST". That appeared in 2004 sometime.
