So Trey Songz put out a track on Jay-Z's beat for Death of Autotune on a track called "Death of Autotune Kells"

On the track he calls out R Kelly, T-Pain, and Pleasure P. He hits R Kelly really hard. I don't know, what do you guys think about this? I can't help but feel it's a little silly for a new guy in the game to call out someone who's made such a huge impact on the industry. I mean, I'm by no means an R. Kelly fan, but I will still respect the fact that he's done a ton for the industry.

Trey Songz grew up listening to rap music. The only R&B artist he listened to was R Kelly. So as a fan, he has the right to feel disappointed with Kells.

I don't think he's throwing shots at Pleasure P though. He doesn't really use autotune.

Trey wrote about it here:

"First off, anyone who is familiar with my history knows I’m a HUGE R. Kelly fan & have been inspired by him since my early beginnings musically. So while some may take this as disrespect, those who truly listen to the lyrics will understand my urging him to go harder. I’ve been compared to R. Kelly since my career began while we all can recall R. Kelly stepping on the scene sounding AND looking JUST like Aaron Hall. He demolished his sound and then went on to build his own which was a mixture of many others. We all are familiar with his signature adlib “Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh” which he grabbed from Lenny Williams & let’s not forget the “Bump & Grind” remix which started his Isley Brother’s Vibe. Soon enough he assisted Ron Isley in becoming Mr. Biggs & while keeping Ronald close he kept him on his toes. The R. Kelly we all grew to love was innovative, witty, & trendsetting. If you were to say that R. Kelly has excited you musically as of late, I would question your ears. When I heard JayZ’s “Death of Autotune” my first thought was when will R. Kelly stop using it; The King of R&B with a autotune filled mixtape (not to mention a auto tuned “Double Up” album) disappoints me. If throwing rocks at the throne wakes up the King, consider them thrown."

I mean, he has a point and it's good being agressive to chase AutoTune out, but I can't help but worry this is just a grab for attention with his album coming out soon.

I see where he's going at, at first when I heard this track.. I was like, why Kells yanno? cuz for all we know he could've put the blame solely on T-Pain himself, but for its something deeper than that. Calling the person he had looked up to as a child a sellout for using that crap autotune.. seriously death to autotune & obviously tpain!

Here's the best argument against autotune... listen to this new track by "Tyrese."

This sounds like a cry for attention to me, although I really hope it does die out fast.

BTW that tyrese song is terrible.

Look Trey said everything that I wanted to say to Kelly so the biggest point is he is right. It doesn't matter how he said it, the way he said it, or if he should have said it. It needed to be said. Thank God somebody had the balls to say it to someone you looked up to.

yea maybe it was for attention, but it needed to be said, and by someone who has a voice. Im not a huge fan of trey's, but he has the popularity/presence to be heard by kelz. But we all know what's going to happen... Kelz is gonna have an 'answer' song that goes at trey. This aint rap! There's no beef with singers....dah!

Haha but at the very least, the message is getting out that AutoTune is bad, so I hear you guys on that.

Mary J was in an interview where she had to really defend her self about using AutoTune on her single.
