Can people on this site give love to Brian McKnight?!?!? I know the guru won't give him what he deserves. I j/k...but c'mon. He is my personal favorite artist, 90's or not. So I'm prolly a little biased...but he's got to be top 3 male R&B artist...ever. That's right, up there w/ Vandross, higher than Babyface, even higher Boyz II Men (but only because he's still putting out GOOD music, unlike The Remedy, which is awful)

Ok..I am terribly disappointed. R. Kelly has more favorites than Brian McKnight?!?!? Are you kidding me? First and foremost, R. Kelly is not even a great R&B artist. He had good songs, yes. But his "R&B" tracks--the good ones-- are few and far between. Brian McKnight is up there w/ the Babyfaces of the R&B world. Vocally, only Wanya can match his range and Luther is the only one w/ a "cleaner" tone. And, let's not forget the fact that he plays more instruments than most of us have combined!

Come on R&B Haven...R Kelly better than B. McKnight?

False.

Listen there's no need to state the obvious if anyone claims to know music then you should know that Brian McKnight is the greatest there is or ever was. And we are blessed to still be getting fresh music from him, because he don't have to record another song and no one can touch him.

Sadly, as obvious as it is that Brian McKnight is great, he doesn't get as much love from general visitors as he deserves. He's received less total views than Subway, Intro and Blaque and far too many more. People need to be up on him and show their love :). To compare, R Kelly's been viewed TWICE as often as Brian McKnight. Just not fair.

I still haven't gone though all the artists and fave the ones I like. Brian McKnight should come out with an album, now that it seems like 2008 is a year of comebacks! haha!

Ooh, on BET today, they had an In Video of him, muahaha! I sat their watching it before I went to work. :D

Sorry sonofsoul but I gotta give it to r. kelly. His album with public annoucement, 12 play, R. Kelly, R., TP2.com, and chocolate factory are all classic material. Not only that, but he wrote and produced aaliyah's whole first album, wrote/produced MJ's "You Are Not Alone", and wrote maxwell's "Fortunate". Mcknight's nothing short of a legend, but kelz is an icon. I'd say you do have an argument as far as longevity is concerned. Kelly hasn't made good music since chocolate factory which was 2003. Mcknight is still making good music. I guess we'll have to see who's next album is better :)

I think Brian is definitely in the top 3 R&B artists of the 90's.. but then again he isn't better than Boyz II Men in my opinion.. Brian is still putting out good music to the day which a bonus for him but then look at "Motown" the new BIIM album.. just amazing.. Kells is also a legend, but nothing compared to Brian.

Welcome to the site DMcMahon! I'm with you on this one 100%. While Kelly's done some great production work and had some solid hits, but McKnight's consistency and longevity help him stand head and shoulders over the rest.

Where's Soul when you need him? I'd love to hear him shoot fire on this one.

I got no fire..McMahon is on the ball on this one! I just simply second what he said.

I will add that you can not even dare to compare the vocals b/w kelly and mcknight...it's just not even close. You can have the icon and I'll take the talented one. Deal?

Actually...If you're a music critic, you'll see that Brian McKnight is very much talented than RKelly,
I can say that Brian was all-around, I mean he can do all of the notes neccessary for a song to make it perfect!

SonofSoul!u should have not compare Brian McKnight vs R Kelly!cuz it's very clear, that Brian is way too far gifted & blessed than RKelly, instead, u should've compare Brian to Wayna (of BoyzIIMen)....well that's the perfect match!......

Well the only reason I mentioned R Kelly and Sir Knight in the same breath is because he had more favorites than Sir Knight at the night...and I thought that was a travesty!

As for Wanya vs Brian McKnight....wow. My two favorite R&B Male vocalists so it's really hard to pick a loser. I think I would have to go with McKnight on this one though. Not a knock on Wanya, I saw him live the other day and he did not disappoint (tho he was overshadowed by Shawn's charm and falcetto). I would say McKnight has more range on both ends, though the power of Wanya is unmatched. But McKnight's creativity and ability to hear riffs and runs is just ridiculous.

Wanya finishes a close second...

IMO, Brian McKnight wins the battle with R. Kelly hands down each time. I will admit R. is a great Producer/Songwriter, but he is not a great vocalist.
