| Does nobody appreciate a good BALLAD anymore? | ||||
Havok214 2009-03-20 13:54:17 Total Posts: 407 | Seriously, every song I hear on the radio is some upbeat club song with a hideous amount of bass. I've mistaken some "RnB" songs for rap songs. Every car that rolls by is like "BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.....BOOM". I cant tell if its rap or RnB anymore. What happened to when you used to be able to release a ballad where the artist was SANGIN(not singing) as a single and it would top the charts?
Tridi 2009-03-20 14:12:17 Total Posts: 1 | I wish the 90's male group, Elate' were featured on this site as well. Their first single, "Drop Down" topped the charts. They were a very talented group from New Orleans and after all these years I can not get that song out of my head. Its nearly impossible to find on the internet. But, I did, however, find there myspace page and luckily the song is posted up for everyone to listen. Check it out!

They don't think it's cool anymore. In much the same way, people are afraid to be in love. Love isn't legit anymore, people would rather have thumping sounds like that Round and Round song or whatever it is today.
R&B Guru 2009-03-20 14:40:24 Total Posts: 2527 | And Tridi, can you post this in the thread in the content sectoin on artists to add along with a link to their myspace?
lpc26 2009-03-20 18:07:55 Total Posts: 732 | R&B Guru I have to agree. Especially on the group thing. You sure don't see many groups no more everyone want to be solo. All people want to hear nowadays are uptempo club songs. I get tired of that on our radio station down here in Georgia. I just turn to the old school/slow jam station.
bunky1787 2009-03-20 18:16:28 Total Posts: 440 | its not just club songs tho.... i was playin sum 90's slow jams for my friend, and he said it was too slow. he's likes sum 2000's slowjams, but since the overall tempo of rnb has become faster, he's not patient enough to listen to, say, aaliyah's 'one in a million'. people hav no patience, GIVE THE FREAKIN SONG A CHANCE!!!
Moofu 2009-03-20 18:21:53 Total Posts: 725 | I've heard a lot of GREAT unsigned groups on youtube ex. Tru Sol, Random & Harmony. As for groups being mainstream you guys are def right there is only Brutha and Day 26 it seems.

d0rk 2009-03-21 02:29:30 Total Posts: 359 | i hear ya bunky, i have this lil mp3 player boombox player i take with me to work, so we can have something to listen to while we clean up after work. my 18 year old coworker was like, "what the shiits is this music.. sorry i don't listen oldies music, cuz i ain't old like you." mann, these were some good ol' artists ie, babyface, janet jackson, keith sweat, montell jordan tlc, playa, etc. like i said in a previous post, t-pain ruined music for the several more decades.
Havok214 2009-03-21 12:53:40 Total Posts: 407 | ^^^Good music never gets old. I'm only 21 years old and I'll listen to anything as long as its GOOD. I dont care how old it is. Its easy to tell that your coworker doesnt really appreciate music. He just sticks with whatever is popular at the moment.
junebug18 2009-03-21 19:04:40 Total Posts: 540 | I'm more of a balladeer than a uptempo guy, so if an album has little to no ballads, there is a 95% chance that i WOULD NOT like it at all. But yeah, I thought I was the only one that felt this way? Everything you hear now is about a "shawty", "buying dranks" "in the club" or some other bullshit. lol. I cant stand that stuff that why I never listen to it. Barely anybody makes ballads these days.
R&B Guru 2009-03-21 21:30:42 Total Posts: 2527 | Agreed. For me, when I read reviews, I almost always scan for the word ballad. I like to hear people croon and while I might listen to an uptempo track or two, it's mostly just to break the mood between my love ballads.
Havok214 2009-03-22 10:32:19 Total Posts: 407 | I'm with you june. All that "shawty shawty" BS is ridiculous. These artist are ruining the integrity of their own music while sounding completley ignorant. BTW, I like ballads more than uptempo's also.
