What if 90's R&B music came out in the 2000's and the music of today era came out in the 90's. Just imagine artists like Brandy coming on the scene in 2005, TLC coming out in year 2000, Mariah Carey a new artist out in 2003 or something. Then imagine Keyisha Cole coming out in 1990 or Ne-Yo coming out in 1998 or something.

To me that would be kind of odd and then it would be nice to see if those artists would have did well in a different decade.

hmmm. it would definitely be odd!!
I wonder, then, if we'd look at those artists differently? cuz we're always talking about how music was so much better in the 90s, which it was, but if Chris Brown and Ne-yo and Keisha Cole etc came out in the 90s, I wonder if we'd think they were awesome and wouldn't be so big on the artists of today just cuz we grew up with them?
I think a lot of it has to do with what we grew up with and what brings back the most memories for us.
hmmm. very interesting concept!!!

I tell you one thing, I would be going to a lot more concerts then! It kills me sometimes knowing I missed out on seeing all these great groups live because I got into the music too late.

But yea, it's a good question and one I've had a lot of trouble with. Do we like 90s R&B because it is qualitatively better or because we just grew up with it?

Plain and simple, 90's music is and always will be better. Even the one hit wonders were better. lol

haha, you and me both soulful. I keep hoping After 7 will come to New York, even if it is just Kevon and Keith!

I've managed to catch Boyz II Men, and Babyface but not many of the others. I'm probably most saddened knowing that I'll never get to see Luther or Gerald LeVert live.

Thanks for you guys replies and I'm glad you liked the topic. I can agree that we grew up on the 90's music and 90's music is the best music.

R&B Guru you are so damn lucky to have met Boyz II Men!!! Boyz II Men came to Valdosta, Georgia about 4 years ago and I missed them because I had to work that day. I was so mad....that is my 2nd time losing my chance to meet Boyz II Men. Hopefully the 3rd time will be a charm.

O man, have faith! Fortunately, the Boyz tour a lot so there are a number of chances! Being in Georgia, I hope you at least went to the After 7 show a few weeks back! :)

lol......on the one said about T-Pain. Can you picture if he came out in the 90's that would be crazy and just terrible.

No I didn't go to the After 7 show, I didn't hear anything about them coming to Georgia.
