This is Keri Hilson taking a shot at Beyonce and Ciara on her "Turning me Off" remix. The question is this type of thing has been going on for quite sometime in the hiphop music and it causes hype for the artist album sales. But do you think it has a place in R&B music.

I think it is good if the person dissing is good enough of an artist. Beyonce and Ciara both suck so I am okay with it?

Keri Hilson and Ciara are just garbage. Beyonce is meh. Neither of them have room to be dissin.

The only type of dissing that needs to be going on is for real artist to outwardly diss this The-Dream/T-Pain/Rihanna crap thats been ruining the industry.

That song sucks. Then again, look who it's featuring. Lil Wayne makes me want to kill somebody. Sounds like he's got issues.

Honestly, it depends on what you consider R&B dis tracks. If it has to be targeted at a specific person, I think it can work, though I've never seen a valid attempt at it.

You can see it's potential when you look at R&B tracks that are just packed with heat.

Brian McKnight's Used To Be My Girl (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OA6O_HdPqc) could be a solid dis track if it was targeted at a particular person.

I guess you could consider Eamon's F*** It track also close to a dis track and that's not too bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poOfsDVq9KE

But yea, I think it could work with R&B, but I feel like R&B artists are above silly beef :)

^^^^Have you ever heard that R.Kelly diss towards his "haters"(also rumored that Ne-Yo was among these people). That was simultaneously the worst and funniest thing I had ever heard at the time.

Gawd, why does half the remixes that come out now gotta have T-Pain and/or Lil Wayne featured on it... you know why, cuz they know kiddies are hooked on the auto tune crap. And you know, if a song has 1 or 2 or all 4 biggest auto tune users (other two; kanye & the dream) it'll be an instant hit with the kiddies/tweens/teens.

On the other hand, as ilikeit says, hip hop does disses to boost album sales, and probably mainly to get their names out there and heard. Like this diss I heard today, referring to Chris Brown's incident..

I don't know, I hate what T-Pain has done to music, but Lil Wayne actually causes me physical pain.

there's no room in r&b for diss music... artists have NO reason for not liking one another... just a way to sell records/get publicity...

Sometimes in R&B there are feuds every genre in music has or had feuds.

Way to not answer the question. If the person being hated on sucks enough, I see it as a non issue.

Jermaine, while there can be feuds, is there room for "fight music"

That's the question being asked here. There are always feuds when it comes to money and popularity but is there a need for R&B "fight" music?

Sometimes when an artist feels disrespected by another for example R. Kelly disrespected Sisqo for saying he is gonna be one of the greats. Sisqo didn't diss nobody but both R. Kelly and Usher came out swinging saying how can a little dude with blond hair be one of the greats and R. Kelly said in a diss track he wasn't on his level.
