Nice, helping us build our international base :). And agreed. Marvin Gaye's death was terrible

Well from what I've heard/read Marvin was not stable. His drug addictions caught up with him again and his Dad reacted in "self defense". I've also heard that Marvin's Dad would mention to his children that he brought them into this world and could take them out, which in this case he did.

Otis Redding & Jackie Wilson had tragic deaths also.

So if you were a big star in R&B in the 60's you died tragically is the rule.

They had a good run. I am sure it was a fair trade for them. I mean just imagine being at the top...

Agreed Niktime, these guys set the bar as far as groups are concerned. They had amazing growth from the 60's to the 70's. The fact that they had so many line up changes actually worked for them I think.

For example, a lot of their best stuff came when Dennis Edwards replaced Ruffin. Granted nothing can compare to the main core of David, Eddie, Paul, Melvin, and Otis.

oh man, the temps got it goin' on!! just my imagination is da bomb!!!!

I agree about deaths of geniuses, I was gonna say Otis Redding but somene beat me to it. I can only imagine what he would've done if he had lived longer...I love him!

and Donny Hathaway! such an underrated vocalist, if he was alive today and he was new and he came out with something, I'm sure it would be a hit.he was so ahead of his time!!

I heard he was working through a lot of issues though, a lot of insecurities. such a shame, cuz he had nothing to be insecure about! he was soooo great!!!!!!

Nothing condones what he did, period. His music owns though, that too is not up for debate.
