R&B Guru 2009-03-19 18:38:08 Total Posts: 2528 | You're giving your opinion but it has nothing to do with dru hill. I honestly don't care what you think about Junebug when we are talking about Dru Hill's latest songs. It's hardly the opinion of a 20 year old that threatens people. Instead, it's more the fact that you're annoying as hell comments threaten actual discussion of music on these forums.
Jermaine88 2009-03-19 18:45:14 Total Posts: 301 | Well they're comments annoy me I'm sorry it should be about the songs but your man just said they disgraced Baltimore. Shouldn't I get love for taking up for the artists I mean come on why I gotta be the evil scapegoat.
JohnnyAwesome24 2009-03-19 19:02:03 Total Posts: 1940 | Dude are you retarded? I said they suck now, go look at other threads. I love Dru Hill, but their music now is nothing short of terrible. They are a disgrace now. I am 20 years old as well, most people on this site are in their 20's anyway. You are ridiculous. If you have friends I would be stunned.
Jermaine88 2009-03-19 19:07:46 Total Posts: 301 | Yeah I got friends look we could get along if you would clear up for me how they disgraced Baltimore. I ain't from Baltimore but I know the members well even Tao the new member I don't really know Scola I know them that's why I took up for them and I'm not retarted. Your 20 too that explains why you hate on these artists.
R&B Guru 2009-03-19 21:40:29 Total Posts: 2528 | Honestly, whether you know them or not doesn't change the fact about their music. The new stuff is weak and even if the guys in real life are the coolest people in the world, they portray themselves as arrogant and childish. I've heard Sisqo hogs the spotlight on shows, and in interviews, they all look ridiculous. In the interview I saw, Nokio acted like a total jerk and Tao, while a great singer, was way too obnoxious. But again, even if we look past their presentation, it doesn't change the fact that their new song sounds artificial. And THAT is NOT what the R&B industry needs right now.
Jermaine88 2009-03-20 10:43:12 Total Posts: 301 | Sisqo does not hog the spotlight he even let Tao sing one of his verses on In My Bed at a recent concert so everyone can get familiar with him. The only reason he did his solo thing is because Woody quit the group when the group was featured on Will Smith's song Wild Wild West. He was in the video for a minute but quit during the set and it caused tension between the members. Sisqo, Nokio, and Jazz were all upset that Woody said I was called to do gospel and he did it again in 2008 that's why they were fighting because it's the second time Woody did that and bringing God into the situation upset them. I'm all for doing what God called you to do but you still have a obligation to your group members to let them know where you stand they said the original four were coming back after a hiatus because they never broke up but Woody quit and Scola left the group after he got mad because Nokio made more money and got into it with Woody so Woody told the other members he had to go. Nokio, Sisqo, and Woody put the group together around when they were real young about 12-13 around 90 or 91 so they can do that. Jazz was added to the group around 92. They were called 14K and a gospel group originally then they started listening to groups like Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Silk, Mint Condition, New Edition, Intro, and Shai and wanted to switch to doing R&B but Woody's mom didn't like them switching to R&B so she pulled Woody from the group but Sisqo, Nokio, and Jazz begged her to let him stay so she reluctantly did and they were working at The Fudgery in Baltimore singing songs while making Ice Cream and Fudge for the customers. They started doing talent shows and eventually met Kevin Peck who became their manager and then the president of Island Records Hiram Hicks heard of their talent and signed the group to the label. Scola was a solo artist from Baltimore but his career wasn't real big. The group wanted Scola in the group as the fifth member after meeting him when he did the song Let's Get Personal but he told them he was hotter than them so he wanted to stay solo. Then when Woody left to do gospel in 1999 on the Will Smith video they approached Scola again and a deal for Scola to join Dru Hill was almost done but he didn't want to sign with Def Jam and he turned the opportunity down because of it. They got tired of Scola quick and Sisqo begged Woody to come back and Woody told him let me do a gospel album first then he will. Def Jam wanted all four original members or nothing so they had a plan for all four members to release solo albums then get back together. Sisqo released his first Unleash The Dragon a R&B/pop album, Jazz was supposed to be next with his album Been Through It All a pure R&B album, then Nokio was supposed to do a rap album since he's the rapper of the group, then Woody a gospel album. Because of the success of Sisqo's Unleash The Dragon Def Jam decided to push back the other projects which caused tension. Nokio got fed up and quit working on his album, Jazz continued to release material that made it onto Def Jam mixtapes, and Woody asked to be released from his contract with Def Jam as a solo artist and signed as a solo artist with Kirk Franklin's label Gospcentric and finally released Soul Music in the spring of 2002 which featured a song with Dru Hill called My Homie. He was still signed with Def Jam as a part of Dru Hill. Def Jam had Sisqo, Nokio, Jazz, and Woody go back to the studio to start recording Dru World Order around the summer of 2000 and it was supposed to be released in late 2000 but tension arised because Def Jam didn't want to release Jazz and Nokio's albums and they were jealous of the success of Sisqo's album and they Sisqo got into a argument with Jazz and Nokio and walked out during a photo shoot with VIBE magazine in late 2000. One song they recorded was Without You was featured on Sisqo's second solo album Return Of Dragon. The album wasn't as successful as Unleash The Dragon and was critised for having a ego in leaving Dru Hill which didn't happen and having feuds with R. Kelly and Usher. To clean his image he and Nokio started talking again and wanted to bring the fragmented members back together. Woody's mother passed away in 2001 and his groupmates showed their support and sang at the funeral. Scola who wrote two songs on Woody's gospel album was also in attendance. They wanted to put the group back together but Jazz told them he wanted to do his own solo album Been Through It All which upset the other members Sisqo the most and the happy reunited group started fighting again but Nokio said calm down. Let Jazz do what he wanna do so he can be happy and maybe he can come back. They asked Scola to take Jazz's place so when they started Dru World Order again in late summer 2001 Scola took Jazz's place in the group so it was Sisqo, Nokio, Woody, and Scola but Jazz had second thoughts about leaving the group and returned which made everyone happy and they kept Scola and that's how they became a quintet. They later on LA Reid dropped the group from Def Jam and shelved the followup album to Dru World Order titled D.R.U. and more tension came about as they weren't able to release any more material for two years D.R.U. was supposed to come out in 2005 and they recorded with Keith Sweat but the album was pulled by LA Reid and he dropped them which made the group very upset and finger pointing started happening again. Scola said that he was glad he didn't sign that contract and that the other members are in the hole. He decided to start working on his own solo album, Sisqo started working on Last Dragon, and Nokio went into producing other artists such as 3rd Storee and Trey Songz, Jazz started producing his own acts also. Jazz, Woody, and Scola decided to form a side group called 3 Da Hardway without Nokio and Sisqo but Jazz didn't have the time for it so he got his younger brother Marcus aka G-Man to replace him so Woody, Scola, and G-Man started working on 3 Da Hardway doing shows oversees and singing Dru Hill songs. Scola then started doing 3 Da Hardway shows by himself not telling Woody and Marcus about it and singing songs like In My Bed (Remix) saying that he could sing it better than Sisqo. He started making more money and Woody was upset and told Nokio, Jazz, and Sisqo what Scola was doing and they had to have a group meeting and both Nokio and Sisqo were upset about the side group, Jazz saw it wasn't right which is why he backed out Marcus wasn't with Dru Hill so they were cool with his intentions. Woody then accused Scola of stealing money and then Scola said Nokio been stealing money from him and the group the whole time and Nokio and Scola got into it. They had a meeting at Sisqo's house. Nokio got real heated and left the house before he got into a fight with Scola it's a picture of Sisqo, Jazz, Woody, and Scola but without Nokio. Jazz's brother Marcus is also in the picture. The pic was taken after the blowup and you can see both Woody and Scola with a I'm pissed look on their face. That's when Woody asked Scola what he wanted to do and he told them he didn't wanna be down with the group if this is how it is so Woody told him he could bounce so Scola left. Nokio didn't wanna be with Dru Hill anymore if Scola didn't apologize or leave which started rumors that Nokio left Dru Hill. Woody said Scola refused to apologize and left, Nokio was happy and came back but then Woody left the group again when they announced the return to the original four. Scola then called to apologize and said he could replace Woody and Nokio told Scola come back to the studio and let's write these hits Scola said yeah that's cool and he and Woody talked it out but then Scola went on the air and blasted Dru Hill calling them fake so that was the last straw and they didn't invite Scola to be Woody's replace they held a audition for a new member in Baltimore and Antuwan "Tao" Simpson won and he already knew Sisqo and Jazz because Jazz produced a group Tao used to sing with. Woody gave Tao his shades and was cool with them replacing him with Tao just as long it wasn't Scola because Scola blasted Woody and said their are a few screws missing in his head and called Nokio a thief and a liar. So when the smoke cleared Dru Hill is now Sisqo, Nokio, Jazz, and Tao. They are still tight with Woody. They took the high road with Scola and said he is still their friend even though Scola blasted the group on two radio interviews in Baltimore.

Still, the information you have on a lot of artists is great and I hope you stay around to help collaborate on updating our information. Regardless, I think most of your post shows how much drama is found in Dru Hill and why it's hard to take them seriously as a true R&B group :).
Havok214 2009-03-20 12:49:44 Total Posts: 413 | I gotta agree with Guru on this. I like Dru Hill's first 2 albums and most of their 3rd album, but these new songs are just annoying. I have no obligations to like every single song they make. If its bad, I'll say its bad. BTW Guru I only think half of "Full Circle" is forgettable. The first time I listened, I was very dissapointed but after more listens I started to really like songs like "I'll Show You", "Thats Why I Love You", "On the Road Again" etc. I realized it was a little better than I originally thought.....
R&B Guru 2009-03-20 14:47:51 Total Posts: 2528 | Yea, I hear you. I've probably been too dismissive of it as I get that problem sometimes. Once I find the tracks on an album I REALLY like, I just skip the rest. And since some of Full Circle really takes a few listens, it sort of fell by the wayside and became simply "The album with Oh Well and Color Of Love." I'll pull it out later on to redeem it :). On Dru Hill, it's funny/bad but I'm actually starting to enjoy If You Fall. The problem is its NOT Dru Hill. I get these vibes listening to it of like Outkast or something. These guys can sing on their own, they don't need these voice modifiers. So it's an entertaining song, but I'd rather see it as a spin-off thing, NOT as a representation of what Dru Hill is all about now.
Jermaine88 2009-03-20 16:35:55 Total Posts: 301 | It's just a rock style that Nokio went for in these songs, He and a new producer Dru Hill's production team named J-Hatt produced If You Fall, Darryl Pearson and Nokio did Loose, Darryl Pearson was discovered by DeVante of Jodeci and played the bass on some of their songs like Freek'n You and produced some songs for Ginuwine and K-Ci & JoJo who are all associated with DeVante. Bryan Michael Cox did Away that song is a slow ballad so maybe that's the song you might like from Dru Hill similar to stuff like Never Make A Promise and In My Bed, Wyrlie Morris an associate of Keith Sweat did 7 songs from the new album InDRUpendence Day with Keith Sweat assisting, Bryan Michael Cox did a few, Keith Sweat of course, Nokio, Sisqo, and Jazz all wrote and produced and Tao is doing some writing, and also J-Hatt and other people in Dru Hill's camp.
