| Hilariously bad songs that you like | ||||
Havok214 2009-01-01 19:27:09 Total Posts: 407 | This topic is for those songs which are so bad, yet hilarious at the same so you actually like it. K-Ci and Jojo - Game Face When the beat drops I'm like "WTF?". The song was a bit immature and plagued with bad lyrics, especially in the second verse, but for some reason I can imagine them actually looking in the mirror to check their "game face" before they walk out the house witch a kind of arrogance that only they could have. Before the song is over, I find myself nodding my head. Brian Mcknight - Dont Know where to Start The beat deffinetly has a west coast vibe to it (hence the Nate Dogg feature) that will make you bob your head. However, this song is so NOT the typical ballad/love song type of Brian Mcknight. Instead we see a cocky/arrogant B Mcknight so it kind of catches you off gaurd as you go through the album. If you imagine him actually doing the things he's talking about (like "head nod to security holding back the crowd as he opens the door") I cant help but laugh a little at the scene. Then he's like "hear the fellas spittin haterade even before the crew can even get through the door". LOL who is his "crew"? Boyz II Men?

Still, this is a great topic (and game face is a perfect choice. One of the first songs I thought of)! A lot of it is just songs with awesomely bad lyrics. The song that probably jumps to my mind more than any is "Halls of Desire" by Tevin Campbell. I can't think of ANY mood that fits this song. Basically, Tevin is like "come into door number one - just friends. So I give you a hug!" "Door #2 - just a kiss... we're moving up" I've got more I'm sure but that one is just so terrible.

gloomypoet 2009-01-04 01:42:57 Total Posts: 48 | Hey what a nice subject although other genres may have a lot more songs that fall under this category, especially hard rock, but nevertheless R&B has it its fair share and what comes to mind right now are two catchy songs yet so hilariously baddly written and they are Shanice's I love your smile which have got some of the silliest and wackiest lyrics ever mixed up by someone who was drunk i suppose, and the other is Maxwell's Luxury Cococure in its hastily written contradicting words to highten the effect of em... nothing including: (took a high from a low (unless if he means what i suppose?)/ it's a happy in a sad (!!!!!!)...) but what is really sad that it's catchy!
R&B Guru 2009-01-04 07:21:40 Total Posts: 2527 | Great choice with Return Of The Mack. I was just looking up the lyrics and they're rotten lol. But the song's just so addicting so it works. Same with that Ne-Yo track. It's weird, he's one of my favorite artists now based upon lyrics and so, seeing a song with poor lyrics by him is weird. Nice choices by you guys too bunky and gloomy! I always wonder when writers make these songs if they really think about the lyrics they make or if they just put down what can rhyme in some cases. One song that's debatable on its lyrics is Avant's Why. I like the song and it's message, but lines like: "why does this world seem so cold just like a rich man who won't give a pot a gold" Most of the song has good lyrics but that's the chorus. WTF, a pot of gold? He ain't no leprachaun :).
lpc26 2009-01-05 17:43:35 Total Posts: 732 | The only ones I can think of right now are: Mariah Carey- "Westside" from Charmbracelet CD. I wasn't to crazy about the song at first and then the more I listend to it the more I liked it. Ashanti- "good, Good" and "baby"- I really wasn't to crazy about "good, good" I was like this sound like something Mariah Carey would be singing now, it just didn't fit her. Then the more I heard the more I kind of start to like it. The "Baby"...did that song have any verses all I remember her saying in the song is "baby, baby, baby, baby, baby". and there are some more but i can't think right now.
R&B Guru 2009-01-05 19:58:16 Total Posts: 2527 | So this one just blew my mind. So I've always LOVED the song "Too Close" by Next and I never realized it was about getting a boner while dancing with a girl lol. How awkward of a song is that? But yea, did anyone else not know this? Look at these lyrics: "I wonder if she could tell I'm hard right now, hmmm" "baby when were grinding I get so excited" "step back youre dancing kinda close I feel a little poke coming through" How can you have stuff like that, I feel so weird singing the song now.

gloomypoet 2009-01-12 00:28:04 Total Posts: 48 | For one reason or another Prince or Symbol or the Artist or whatever his name, is nowhere to be found here, why the hate Guru? anyway, it happened that i rememebred his Sexy M.F. which had some of the funnniest and weirdest lines let alone the rap in it, and yet still it was extremely catchy back then.
R&B Guru 2009-01-12 17:07:17 Total Posts: 2527 | Lol Prince will one day be on the site. The problem is that he has been around FOREVER and so writing a bio for him is the equivalent to writing a book. That is to say, it's taking a while. I started it a while back but got busy. Maybe I'll pick it up again soon and finish it up :).
Havok214 2009-01-14 19:42:27 Total Posts: 407 | The entire "trapped in the closet" series by R.Kelly is a good example. Its like a bad soap opera. The songs themselves got worse and worse as the series went on yet for some reason I'm compelled to know what happens next.
