| Who has the most soul out of these singers? | ||||
lpc26 2008-12-25 17:57:30 Total Posts: 732 | I just wanted to say I listen to a wide variety of music and I've started to notice we starting to have a bunch of white singers with soul. So my question is out of this list which white singer has the most soul. I'm not being racist or offending a race I do like these artists I'm mentioning. 1. Christina Aguleria 2. Justin Timberlake 3. Leona Lewis 4. Mariah Carey 5. Robin Thicke 6. Pink (if you listen to those slow song she sings she can sound like a black person) 7. Joss Stone 8. Jamiroquai(they were this group back in the 90's that sung "virtual insantity" remember that video with the moving couch and floor).

JohnnyAwesome24 2008-12-26 11:38:50 Total Posts: 1928 | Lol freaking white people. I am pretty white but I gotta say I am not a fan of any of those people. Jon B does own though so its him. Mariah I just can't like since her sister is literally a hooker. As was she allegedly.
R&B Guru 2008-12-26 14:45:47 Total Posts: 2527 | I think Mariah sold her soul to get popular again so I can't vote for her here. She's probably one of the best white R&B singers but I don't know if I'd give her the soul. On top of that, I don't know Robin Thicke at alll. I'd probably go with Jon B as I think he's true to his music, and another one people might not agree with, but I'm all for, is Richard Marx. He did a lot of work with Luther (co-wrote Dance With My Father) and has some great weight behind him. Though I guess if we're talking still big, I'll play the Jon B card. Maybe Aguilera, she always seems on the cusp and has moved more towards the soul from her pop roots.

R&B Guru 2008-12-27 06:43:59 Total Posts: 2527 | Hah, glad you're feeling me on the Richard Marx. I loved his work as an artist (have his cd and all), but wasn't sure how you guys would feel about him so I tried to focus on his R&B credentials :)
lpc26 2008-12-27 19:17:14 Total Posts: 732 | Richard Marx is a good one and I had no idea he wrote "Dance with my father" that pretty interesting. How about these guys: Michael Bolton and Michael McDonald. I heard my dad play Michael McDonald and I thought he was a black guy untill my dad said that is a white man.
Havok214 2008-12-27 19:45:23 Total Posts: 407 | Michael McDonald is a beast! I'm a fan of him and the doobie brothers. Something about his voice is so calming. I also got respect for Michael Bolton. Guy has mad range. I like his cover of "Reach out I'll be there"
gloomypoet 2008-12-27 23:27:48 Total Posts: 48 | Wassup guys I missed loging in here as i was extremely busy, but this subject takes me back to a good movie called "White men can't jump " and that's a fact i learned through the years as i'm sure they meant jump with style or more likely with your soul put into it so yes they may jump and even dunk hard but they will never be stylish i am not a racist and am white but i saddly admit the truth that there will never be a white Dr. J., Shawn Kemp, Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, or Lebron. and same aplies for the R&B yes there are a lot who sang, sing and will but soul? Nah! they may even have better voices, take Josh Groban for ana instant he is a tenor and can hits pitches none of our beloved singers can but as for soul no way, so i have to disagree with all of you guys on this one, and Johnny my man you are trapped in this white body suit like i am? Just kidding and it's no shame to admit the truth, and may you all have merry holidays.
JohnnyAwesome24 2008-12-28 09:00:21 Total Posts: 1928 | Lol agreed. I HATE white basketball players, always have and will. I am so white, but its pretty rad I won't lie.
R&B Guru 2008-12-28 10:09:06 Total Posts: 2527 | Hah. It's like the line from the movie. "You listen to the music but you don't hear it." Regardless, we're all just a bunch of reverse oreos I tell you. White on the outside, black on the inside :). But regardless, while there's no arguing that white people suck hard at basketball, I think a few are able to field their own in the realm of soul. A lot of the trouble is that they do it in different genres than R&B.
gloomypoet 2008-12-29 09:33:34 Total Posts: 48 | I totally agree with you Guru, as you seem to put it in this modern-life philosophy, and on one hand it saddened me a lot when maybe a decade ago Brent Berry won the slam dunk contest in the all star game by trying to imitate legends who of course done it better (the one hand slam flight from near the free throw line) and although John Stockton is the total assisst leader by far and Steve Nash won the MVP award twice but they are to me as boring as 90210 while I do get mesmerized by Vince Carter's dunks every time i watch them over and over again and this goes for every aspect in life as race may play a factor in a lot of issues to excell in, as white people do in hockey and Country Music and far east asians excell in table tennis and martial arts... Anyway as I was saying we on the other hand (whites) suck at R&B and we should admit it, so let us stick to the Genres we can excell in period. And JT reminds me of a cat scratching on glass and the others suck at live performances except for Mariah who is the closest thing to R&B and by the way Leona Lewis should not be on this list as she is of Afro-Caribbean descent from her father's side.
