R&B Guru 2008-11-04 06:42:33 Total Posts: 2527 | I really like 112's Your Letter. It's going to take some time for me to think of some more I like. I REALLY like the lyrics in Ne-Yo's "So Sick." The song is real mainstream but it has some great lines. For instance: "Gotta change my answering machine Now that I'm alone Cause right now it says that we Can't come to the phone And I know it makes no sense Cause you walked out the door But it's the only way I hear your voice anymore" and "Gotta fix that calendar I have That's marked July 15th Because since there's no more you There's no more anniversary"

gloomypoet 2008-11-05 09:02:17 Total Posts: 48 | I don't know whether you have heard of a french speaking artist called Terry Moise but she had two huge hits in French speaking countries back in the mid 90's and one of them is "Je Serais la" that is (I will be there for you) and it is about a mother speaking her caring thoughts to her new born baby, this is the original song with its translation & I think you should check it out: « [Oublie tes erreurs et tes peurs] Forget your errors and your fears [Je les efface] I will efface them [A chaque faux pas que tu feras] Each time you totter [Je tomberai a ta place] I will fall to your place [Mon seul plaisir sera de t'offrir une vie idéale] My only pleasure will be to give you an ideal life [Sans peine et sans mal] Painless and hurtless [J'ai découvert qui je suis] I discovered who I am [Tout a changé le jour ou je t'ai donné la vie] Everything has changed the day when I gave you birth [Et si jamais le monde t'es trop cruel] And if ever the world is you too cruel on you [Je serai la toujours pour toi] I will be there always for you [Que tous tes amours soient surs] I wish all your loves to be sure [Tes amis sinceres] Your friends to be sincere [Pour toi un domaine] For you a domain [Ou la haine est la seule étrangere] Where the hate is the only foreigner [Je ferai un monde ou tout ira bien] I will do a world where everything will fit [Tu seras jamais seul tu manqueras de rien] You will be never lonely, you will lack of nothing [J'ai découvert qui je suis] I discovered who I am [Tout a changé le jour ou je t'ai donné la vie] Everything has changed the day when I gave you birth [Et si jamais le monde t'es trop cruel] And if ever the world is you too cruel on you [Je serai la toujours pour toi] I will be there always for you [Je voudrais pouvoir tout savoir] I would be able to know evevrything [Pour te donner une vision plus claire] to give you a clearest vision [De ce mystere que l'on appelle la vie] Of this mystery that is called life [Mon seul désir sera de t'offrir une vie idéale] My only wish will be to give you an ideal life [Sans peine et sans mal] Painless and hurtless [J'ai découvert qui je suis] I discovered who I am [Tout a changé le jour ou je t'ai donné la vie] Everything has changed the day when I gave you birth [Et si jamais le monde t'es trop cruel] And if ever the world is you too cruel on you [Je serai la toujours pour toi] I will be there always for you »

Who else was writing on such a topic like this in the mid 90's?

R&B Guru 2008-11-06 07:24:44 Total Posts: 2527 | Hot damn, good point. "Hi my name is Shawn, tell me your name although I know the last one" Co-Signing that one. How Come, How Long is another good one. I gotta disagree with you gloomy on 4 minutes though. I feel like the song is awesome and it's premise is great, but Avant doesn't do lyrically what he could with it. I think to much of the song is about trying to come up with what to say in 4 minutes, instead of what you'd actually say. Still, I love the song.
