I happen to like all of those artist and think they do not suck as people they might have some bad music but their character shouldn't be judged you are saying give your opinion about music and I am however I think it's too much hating and I had to say somethin about it don't twist what I say.
I do agree with MOST of what he said was the quote. There are a lot of praises in that post for Johnny Gill and Keith Washington. You are the one being negative their bro. Shai is overrated. No one brought character into play.
How are they overrated and they are not as known as Boyz II Men and Jodeci they like New Edition have never received grammys or anything if you would say Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Justin Timberlake and others then I would agree. Johnny Gill and Keith Washington are just two artists. Why would you praise Johnny Gill and hated Ricky and Ralph from New Edition doesn't Johnny sing with them and he even said they are some of the best tenor vocalists of our time. New Edition members praise each other. Bobby recently praised Ralph and said he's smooth, Johnny takes it to church and a whole nother level, he said Mike is the best business minded artist he's been around and is priviledge to know him for over 30 years, he said Ricky is the smoothest crooner he's heard and that Ronnie is one of the dopest rappers and the best dancer out of New Edition and that's big of Bobby and he said it this year. It's big because he used to have a ego and thought he was better than them but he realized they are his true friends and is priviledge to be singing with them now.
I never said you said that I said Junebug did and one of the members of Shai's mother goes to my church so you want me to tell her you her son's group and they are not great.
Lol Jermaine. You make it sound like you are friends with every single R&B group ever created. And regardless, I'm sure his mom won't be too upset that someone doesn't thing a group is really good.
Wow. This is too funny. Jermaine is putting A LOT of words in our mouths.
No matter who you, not everybody is gonna like you. You will always have some type of haters, whether your a singer, a sports team, a teacher, or just a regular person. Whats wrong with expressing opinions?
And saying someone is "overrated" does not mean they're garbage. You do know what overrated means right?
I'm so surprised that someone could get so emotional over someone else's opinion. LOL. I'm dying here
Who cares what Johnny Gill said. What he supposed to say? "Oh umm Ralph and Ricky are alright singers" LOL He is a better vocalist than any other NE member. One of my favorite rappers, Scarface, said he likes Soula Boy. I guess I have to like him too right?
Mann....I'd keep typing but Im too busy laughing my ass off here. LMAO!
Lol June, well put. I'm glad you've come back because he was talking a lot of smack about you and I felt like it wasn't right going without you even knowing about it. Still, as you can see, we got you and Johnny's back.
I couldn't believe when he said you though. Johnny's one thing, but you?
LOL. Yeah Ive been busy lately, but had to comeback to my R&B home :). and show some love. Seems like since there was so much posts in this thread, he got everything mixed up, but its cool though.
Well Moofu to mean and a lot of NE fans they can you can have your opinion but to me they can and maybe I got people mixed up but other people are straight hating and I got some experts who agreed with me you know who you are so R&B Guru you can agree with them all you want but saying someone is overrated when they didn't even get a lot of recoginiton that's what overrated means like receiving a lot of awards when you don't like maybe Miley Cyrus or Jonas Brothers not Shai or Blackstreet.

Are you trying to tell me here that New Edition didn't receive a lot of recognition? If not, WHAT artists are you talking about being unfairly deemed overrated?
Also, overrated can come in a number of different contexts.
You can be viewed highly by the general public, viewed highly by the R&B community, viewed highly by people on this site. Saying someone is overrated may be correct in some contexts and not the others, so to say they didn't receive recognition is only a fraction of the important details.
Trying to dissect what Jermaine is saying, though difficult, he does have a point. There is a difference between hating and overrated. I'm all for people expressing their opinions as for who they do and don't like, don't get me wrong. But, the term "overrated" is a term that is overused.
I admit, I'll say someone is overrated just because I, personally, don't like them. But there are times when I really feel someone is overrated because they are getting way too much attention and laud for what their talent really warrants. Not pointing to any case in particular...just stating facts.
As for Jermaine's statement "I have experts who agreed with me"...that means there are also "experts" who disagree with you since they don't all agree. That argument really holds no water. In fact, a lot of our arguments hold no water because beauty, especially in music, is in the eye of the beholder. What's great about this site and forums in general is that we're here to get stuff off our chest. The fact of the matter is we all love R&B as a whole, just our specific tastes differ. So, Jermaine, before you go trying to castrate everyone's opinion, step back and take everything with a grain of salt. You like NE? Great. We respect that, but we don't have to agree with you...so get over yourself.
