Music Trends You Hate

This topic is sort of like our "what artists people like that you hate." What trends or changes in the music industry annoy you?

Obviously, we all hate the hip-hop/R&B blend, but what other things annoy you?

One that I've seen a lot recently as I update artist discographies is the "bonus" track. I feel like it used to be that EVERY copy of the album had bonus tracks, but now it seems like each store has their own mix. The iTunes bonus tracks, Target bonus tracks, Best Buy bonus tracks.

A good example that fits with us, is some people who bought the Boyz II Men Motown album got a Ribbon in the Sky a capella track (heard here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mov24jUv1FE) while my copy didn't.

If these songs are recorded, why punish some fans based on where they buy it? These types of actions seem to encourage piracy as its the best way to ensure you get every song.

Autotune and male singers who sound like women. I am tired of feminine dudes. Lloyd is a good example. Two songs on the radio and I wanted to puke blood.

This one is simple. Its clearly the now, long-going, trend of being able to do everything but be a great vocalist!

I'm tired of these labels signing artists who 'look' and 'dance' wonderfully, but sounds HORRIBLE in a live performance. Then their agents actually have the nerve book 'em in live shows where they have to show vocal diversity LOL!

My point, the business of money-over-talent is, and has been, a terrible trend for decades...its a sad day for music

Wow I have to agree with all 3. Great topic by the way. I really have to go with R&Banalyst. I love going to concerts and I don't want to go to a concert if I know the person can't sing live or perform live. Lets say someone like Rihanna I wouldn't go to her concert if she paid me I don't think she can sing live, but someone like Joe, Jon B, Tank, Ginuwine, yeah...I'll pay to see them.

Auto tunes I'm defintley sick of those too. I guess one thing that annoys me really is how albums has stopped sellling. No one want to buy albums anymore its all about downloading from the internet or I-Tunes I can just kill I Tunes.

I am sick of this Eurodance pop-like R&B. I understand you want to make a record that makes the listeners want to dance but R&B was not intended to make you want to dance, more than make you feel hence the name rhythm and blues. I think artists need to take R&B back to its roots and out of the clubs.

It's funny you brought that up Musiq. What got that started? All of a sudden, David Guetta was big in the United States with his dance style R&B.

And l, I feel you on the dropping album sales. Though the good news is that it might open up a bigger market for independent artists to sell some albums online.

I am starting to prefer the indie artists over the mainstream. The amount of bs on the radio is ridiculous!

lol johnny, you pretty much take discussions and successfully consolidate them into one line.

Yea, Musiq, that about sums it up. I was watching American Idol the other day (roomie loves it so it's hard to dodge... though the other show "The Voice" actually looks cool and has an artist on this site competing), and J Lo did some new song of hers.

Holy cow, first it sounded like two or three songs by other artists already out. Second, it was awful. Not that I think J Lo has any musical talents, but jesus christ, they put her as a judge on the show, and then she sings some song that's just the words "on the floor or or" over and over again.

I grew tired of long posts. If you go back I am sure my older posts are longer.

Here here Musiq, I second that motion. This euro R&B is brutal.

Usher jumped on that Euro-pop-R&B bandwagon too.
