Sonofsoul 2008-08-12 11:51:30 Total Posts: 212 | Had to start this topic as Pandora just played "Same Script, Different Act", which combines two of my favorite female R&B vocalists of all time, Deborah Cox and Whitney Houston. So that being said, here is my list: 5.Toni Braxton 4.Deborah Cox 3.Beyonce 2.Whitney Houston 1.Mariah Carey I really wanted to put Beyonce first because she is currently my favorite...but she isn't the best. Also, I love Braxton but I admit that's a pretty weak pick, I just couldn't think of anyone else. Cox COULD be higher...again I would be playing favorites. But she is really underrated. Houston would be number one on my list if she didn't have that one God awful live performance when she was strung out (thanks Bobby!). I figure Mariah is a pretty safe bet if you don't count most of her new stuff (Touch My Body??!?!! Normally I would...but not with the way she was singing that). Yet still, listen to her past stuff and you will be convinced, though that whole "8 octave range" is not true

Just listen to songs like, "Sentimental", "Never gonna break my heart again" "Sound of my tears", etc. 2. Stacy Lattisaw - Voice is absolutely impeccable 3. Sarah Vaughan - The standard vocalist 4. Ella Fitzgerald - Same as Sarah 5. Teena Marie - She defines phenomenal

Kelly Price (very underrated, outdid the "as we lay" remake and held her own with Whitney on "heartbreak hotel") 4. Deborah Cox (underrated like Kelly) Dont know about the 5th spot, but girls like stacy lattisaw, toni braxton, and michel'le are candidates.
