So Usher left his management and joined back up with his mom as his manager for his future work. The reason was that Usher's last album, Here I Stand, didn't do very well. Why do you guys think it didn't do well? Blame his manager? Or blame him?

I don't think his mom could have helped him on this one. It was a good album, I think people just don't won't to spend the money. Hell gas is high, LOL

With the internet, anything is possible..from a downloadable the deluxe edition from itunes to at least a handful of tracks that have been leaked out a month prior to his album release. I admit, I have downloaded 1-2 "leaked" tracks and Im surprised that the song "Echo" has not made it on to the album, check that out on youtube.. it has a little Jon B influence in a line.. if you know what i mean :)

And yeah, I agree with you ilikeit, people just don't feel like spending anything these days with so many things rising up in costs. I seen a shirt the other day while going to work that said "Buying beer is cheaper than buying gas!" hahahaa!

Well i think the main reason he left his management due to lack of feedback to his new album is because, nowadays, there's a lot of new artists comin in (that's much better than him, i guess?)ya know........

There are too many artists who are just like him is the problem. They became pouplar during his "retirement" even though they are not nearly as good as him IMO. (I think the chain goes like so Michael Jackson-->Usher-->Justin Timberlake-->Ne-yo/Mario/Chris Brown/every other new artist)

The root of this "tree" is Michael Jackson, but no one comes close. Usher did really well and is an outstanding performer. Know what else he is? Really intelligent. He'll be alright, he'll give it one or two more shots as far as albums go, but he's got a lot of other stuff going for him. I wish him well

I agree with sonofsoul. There's just too much competition and J.T., Chris Brown, Mario, Ne-yo,etc. are more accustomed to this new era in music. Usher might have thought that just because his album was good, it would sell. Not true. It lacked promotion. I bought it the day it came out and can tell you it's his best album as far as concept goes. Confessions had slightly better material, but usher showed himself as an artist. He didn't just hire the best producers and say "give me hits". He made a rhythm and blues album. Moving mountains is one of the best songs of his career and its not even going to be a top ten hit.

Good point Soul. When Usher first became big, there weren't any other real competitors for him in the marketplace. However, his style of music has really taken root, which ironically, has hurt his own success tremendously.

Hey SonofSoul, you forgot Bobby Brown in between MJ and Usher.

Sorry but competition had nothing to do with the slow record sales. His album was all by itself sitting on itunes for prepurchase. There wasn't another album or artist going up against it, people just did not want to fork over the money like they did for his previous album. The state of music is changing and the music biz is not ready for it.

You're right Junebug...I'm not up on Bobby so I just missed him. I also dislike him greatly, but can not deny his talent

I am glad, pure and simple, that Usher and his mom have reunited. Too much drama brings attention to the artist, but sometimes takes it away from the music.

ilikeit, I don't know if I agree with you on that one. While there might not be an exact album that was fighting with it for sales, I think the market for Usher's style of R&B is really becoming saturated and preventing the megamultiplatinum albums Usher might dream of. You can't tell me that listening to Chris Brown/Ne-Yo/etc on the radio, those artists aren't stealing some of the audience that for a while, had nothing but Usher to select from.
