R&B Guru Says
haha so you were able to do that in 10 minutes? Can you explain how it's done?

Stylistically, that looks like the type of thing I'd like to do with the shirts I think.

And okay, so it's Michael, ??? and Luther. Is the middle one Marvin or Teddy?

- i googled up pictures
- put them in photoshop, one by one desaturate the color (meaning remove the color and turn them black &white)
- did a "fake vector" on it using some filters, changed the levels to make it completely black & white
- position them around a bit then erase a lot of parts & merge them together
- add text and voila

Oh excuse my choices, when I seen "remembering real r&b" I was thinking of artists that are no longer with us, although there would've been more there were the ones that popped into my head first. Oh and Guru, it was Gerald Levert.

I think we should have T-Shirts from each era of R&B. That would be pretty cool IMO

Nice I'm goig to have to play around with that and see what I can do. Overall, great great job.

I'm actually thinking of doing two shirts now.

One would be "Keeping Real R&B Alive" and it would be based on just classic 90s artists.
The other one would be "Remembering Real R&B Music" a la what you've got there.

Still can't believe that's Gerald LeVert haha. Though he did have that stereotypical "sad" face which you can see in the picture.

Aaliyah sucked, her voice great? Really? I've heard porn stars scream out better notes, true story.

I'd love to see Joe on the shirt too, but I mean is he THAT recognizable? I guess to R&B fans yes, but what is the goal here? I suppose if you are catering to hardcore fans, you can put pretty much anyone.

Hrm, with his bald head, Joe is pretty hard to catch.

It is a good question. Is the point to represent what the general public would know, or who was truly talented?

Where do you stand on R Kelly? If we go impact, he was huge.

What I'll probably do is try this with as many as possible (ask d0rk for help when i fail) and go by the ones that look the best/are most recognizable.

The good news is, we can pick and choose for now. We're not committed until we've made a design and I've ordered it :).

Having tried this... I give up lol.

d0rk, what if I offer you a cut of every sale if you just make the art work for us lol.

It was hard finding good pictures, and even harder making them distinct enough to be recognizable.

Yea what Johnny said (minus the Aaliyah comment he has a right to his own oppinion. I was just shocked at the comment really and didnt kno what to say lol. but its all good) Is this shirt to be recognizable for everyone or people who are (like he said) for hardcore fans. if its to a broader audience than the distinct faces of the 90s. A good balance between the male and female artist (or have seprate)

After all this talk, I'm thinking we can do a womans R&B with

Aaliyah, Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey?

See, here's where you get a problem again because Toni Braxton belongs on that list too. AHHH

Men

Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Babyface, R Kelly?

Maybe mixing in Maxwell/Joe/Keith Sweat

Another option is a remembrance shirt...

though d0rk is clearly the graphics designer here so it might be best if we talk to him about all this :)

What if the women shirt is just the best looking female R&B singers and it says "Oh shit... they sing too?" :)
