Phyllis Hyman, R&B Christmas Giveaway!
R&B Guru 2008-12-02 20:59:35 Total Posts: 2527	So there's been few updates on the site, but one thing that's changed is that Phyllis Hyman seems to have the popular artist spot on lock down. I've mentioned her on the forums before and her talent was immense. I recommend everyone check out "I Refuse To Be Alone." One thing that's interesting is that this is one of the first times an artist has mysteriously spiked when they haven't died. It's a sad phenomenon on here that most artists get their most hits when they die. It was seen with Tony Thompson of Hi-Five's death and again when Orish Grinstead of 702 died. The most recent example was with Michel'le Touisant after the death of her rumored son. However, Phyllis Hyman seems to break this pattern as she committed suicide over a decade ago. Regardless, I welcome all of the fans of hers that have come to the site and hope many other visitors have found her due to this excitement. The most important thing for this week is the announcement of giveaways at R&B Haven! I've been trying to get the site into Christmas spirit with Christmas songs of the week but figured I might as well go a step further and give away some cds. However, it's up to you guys to let me know how you think I should give them away. I was thinking I should do some kind of contest to see who gets them but couldn't think of a good one. What do you guys think? Cd's I plan on giving away Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentlemen Eric Benet - Love And Life Lyfe Jennings - Lyfe Change 5$ in Amazon music downloads What do you guys think of the cd choices? They will all be brand new and factory sealed as I'm buying them for the purpose of giving them away. In conjunction with this, Destiny's Child's "8 Days of Christmas" is the song of the week. I don't really like the song but unfortunately, most of the R&B Christmas music I like doesn't have music videos so we have to go with what we can find :). Well, that's it for now. Each day of December (starting Monday or something), I will post a 10 second audio clip of a 90s song in a topic, or a music video on mute, or a brief excerpt of a bio of an artist featured on the site. Then, if people email me with their username/the song's name before the end of the day, they will be awarded a point. On Christmas Day, whoever has the 1st/2nd/3rd/4th most points will receive a free cd/5$ music download. I'm willing to do this but I need to see if you guys are interested in doing it :).
