I'm happy to tell you guys that this week was a busy one on R&B Haven. We've got one interview recently added to the site and another one in the making and so much more. So as always, R&B Haven's your #1 source for R&B music.
The first order of business is the recently launched interview with Calvin Richardson. Calvin came out in 1999 with Country Boy and recently put out his third album, When Love Comes. He's a real interesting guy and is actually married to K-Ci & JoJo Hailey's cousin. Having grown up with the Hailey brothers, Calvin actually was in their gospel group Lil Cedric and the Hailey Singers, and has done some recent work with them as a group called P.O.C. Hoping to keep real music alive, Calvin's a great guy and I recommend everyone check out the interview for more information on him!
To celebrate the interview, the song of the week is the lead single from Calvin's latest album. The track, "Sang No More," is infectious, with a catchy chorus that will stick with you for hours thereafter. The lyrics are well-written and a testament to Calvin's frustration with the mainstream record labels. Check out the track in the featured song section and give your vote of support for the independent singers.
Unfortunately, some of you will be upset (*cough SonOfSOul *cough) that the song of the week is not a track by Eric Benet. That's because this week, Eric Benet is releasing his newest album, Love & Life. Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about Eric and we'll be covering more on the album in the future. As a compromise, we recommend everyone on the site take a chance to explore both artists music!
In the artist update section, we've now gotten up to Changing Faces and so, will hopefully be done by the Cs by the end of this week. I'll keep you posted as we progress, and you can usually gauge our progress by the latest picture on the sidebar.
That's it for this week on R&B Haven. However, as I've mentioned before, we've got a TON of content in the making. I've recently completed an interview with Eric McCaine and am setting it up to be a three part feature on his career in the industry. Keep checking back in the weeks to come for more information on this and other features cooking up at R&B Haven. And of course, if you've got anything you'd like to see or want to help out on the site (PLEASE!), email me at rnbguru@rnbhaven.com, or use the contact page.
