Lol, I wanna see Junebug. I'm actually surprised u guys are closer to my age than I first thought. I am a few generations behind the rest of my friends so it's good to see you guys aren't much older than me.
So I've been away for a while and have had to deal with a lot of computer issues, but regardless, R&B Haven is back in action and I hope all the R&B fans are still coming back. Though if this proves anything, it proves the value of having a team of contributors and so, anyone interested in helping with the site should please email me or post below!
The first order of business this week is the launch of a new poll. There's been a lot of discussion in the forums as to who is the better act, 112 or Jagged Edge. Personally, I feel like this is a debate of mediocrity but some people have taken a strong heart in the matter and so, I’m calling on everyone to settle the debate. So go to the polls section and let your voice be heard as to which is the better R&B act. This also ends the last poll between Toni Braxton and Anita Baker. In a close bout, the poll went to Anita Baker in a 38 to 40 victory. It was a close vote, showing that every vote counts!
In other news this week, we’ve got two new articles by our local R&B writer, ilikeit. One article discusses the rap that music gets by the government while the other is a testimony to Brian McKnight. Both are fun reads and well worth a look. And of course, if anyone else wants to write an article, I more than welcome you to submit them by contacting me at rnbguru@rnbhaven.com.
R&B top ten lists saw some new additions as well, as you might have seen if you visit the forum. Having been at a wedding, I was motivated to do a best R&B wedding songs list which includes a video so you can listen to the songs I’ve listed. Ilikeit, possibly motivated by his own name, did a list as well, submitting the 10 best “Like” songs.
As you probably noticed during the three weeks in which his picture was on the front page, we’ve also added a bio of Michael Jackson. The bio looks at the length of Michael’s career and digs into his tremendous history and influence on the R&B industry. It’s a great read and finishes with TONS of music videos by Michael Jackson including a FULL concert. Be sure to check out the page!
Lastly, we’ve finally updated the R&B song of the week. With all the talk about R&B guy groups, I picked a track by the guys from Blackstreet. The song, “Before I Let You Go,” is one of the group’s better tracks and shows them harmonizing and swooning for the ladies. It’s a solid number so check it out, if only to celebrate the fact that we’ve got a new one up finally!
That’s it for this week in R&B. Hope you guys had a great week and I promise we’ll be back on regular updates now. To send you off, here’s one of the great videos on Michael Jackson we’ve added.
I agree with you guys that he's had a really tough time. It's sad because he's so talented and has been so generous throughout his life. I recommend everyone watch the videos we have of him as there's a lot of phenomenal material in there!
