Help Me With the Name of a Song

Hey! Can anyone help me? I am bothered because I cannot remember the title or the name of a song...it's a breakup ballad from the late 80s or 90s...r&b song. Partial lyrics: "oh no, it hurts so bad to let go....pain of it all (la la)...not when it hurts me so...I'd rather die than let go-o--o" I know I messed something up somewhere, LOL!
