I FINALLY FOUND THE NAME OF THE 1990'S RNB GROUP THAT RECORDED RNB VERSION OF THE SONG DONT GET HOOKED ON BY MAC DAVIS: IT WAS "DAY TA DAY in their album TAKE YOUR TIME released in 1996!!!!! I was looking for the song for ages!!!!!!!

It has an easy beat to funk classic with tentdinte or just seems to me, a play two one man and one girl.
